4wd Cordia

For those of you who have done the 2lt conversion to the cordia. I have heard that it is easier to bolt up the VR4 4G63 but would an EVO 4G63 bolt in there easy enough?

For the fuel pump and associated parts the best bet is to look in new zealand. Thats what a friend of mine did. You wont find the parts here as there are only 1 or 2 here
As for the EVO engine, theres more dicking around with the engine mounts to bolt it up, the flywheel needs modifying etc etc. Plus theres the problem of crankwalk. The VR4 engine will always be the better choice. And cheaper

Had a look on cordia power but couldnt find the info i was looking for.
The reason i wanted to use the 7 bolt motor is i may be about to have one spare... depending on how i decide to go about things with my current car.
Was maybe going to try fit up EVO drivetrain seeing as how i may also have a spare g/box, rear diff, tail shaft etc.
Will keep researching into this i think... only this that puts me off the is the part about cutting into the firewall :x coz getting it engineered would be a prick.

So it's been a very long 30+ years of people being very tight lipped about building their 4WD Cordias. Attached is a photo of the 4wd setup that was used and a list of components in Japanese.
If anyone can shed some light on what can be used for a conversion I'm all ears. It must be simple enough, there is a tunnel for a tailshaft in the FWD Cordia and plenty of room for a diff. By the sounds of what has been said on this very old thread and judging by the photo it looks like a gsr rear will fit.
These are the specs that are on wikipedia for the Cordia dimensions,
Wheelbase 2,445 mm (96.3 in) Length 4,275 mm (168.3 in) Width 1,660 mm (65.4 in) Height 1,320 mm (52.0 in) Curb weight 960 kg (2,116 lb)
I can't find dimensions for the Lancer GSR.
The setup in the photo is a solid rear as said, and uses the moustache bar the same as the evo/hypersport.
They would be a great competition car if built into an AWD and if anyone that can shed some light on this topic I would be grateful because I've always been curious.
My basic ideas would be a subframe from a GSR or galant and a tailshaft cut to size or one that might fit from another car, a custom fuel tank. Gearbox I really have no idea.
What was the smallest AWD box out of the Aus spec GSR and the VR-4/galant. Otherwise, would a transfer case from one bolt onto the original Cordia or Magna box from the 2.6? (which fits straight onto the 4g62/4g63)
Also curiously and stupidly I spose, the auto that's in the RVR and the Galant would be far too big?
ALOT of plug and play that I can't afford to experiment with. Done once, and done right would be a good fast cheap engineer/able car.
Really there would not be too much to buy and build to make this car a reality, one sold on Ebay a year or so ago and it wasn't factory, shame it got sold to a tool that doesn't want to share any info...

Thanks mate, looks like it will be a sure thing to fit it under, at most get the wheel offset right. Still open to anyone suggesting what they think would fit gearbox wise.

That is your option, either fork out for the cordia bloody rare box or make a commoner gsr box fit. Personally id get the gsr box.
Less work if you go for a solid rear axle too. Lots of work in a irs setup

The chassis rail needs to be cut to fit the larger gsr/evo and vr4 gearboxes as they are too long.
Also, I am quite sure the transfer case will not fit. There were no previsions for this in the design of the subframe and firewall with the FWD chassis.
