Base Timing for EIII

Hey all, thought id run this by here, as someone will surely know. When setting the timing on an E3, iss there a plug to be earthed to get static timing like on the VR4?

On the VR4 theres a pin on the firewall that has to be earthed to show static/base timing, is there something similar on an evo1/2/3? Im about to set timing up and want to be sure of the reading I'm getting. Also, does anyone know factory Base timing , i figure it will be on the inside of the bonnet, was thinking around 8 deg BTDC..

Evo has a brown base idle plug next to the clutch master cylinder reservoir you need to earth first to the strut tower or wherever, then set your timing.
AWD. 2 Litre. GTX3076R 0.82.

Hahah,
Took timing from 3 deg to 8 deg BTDC, well what a difference, from the drivers seat it feels amazing, noticeably more torque.
Question- Earthing the pin on the firewall didnt change the static timing mark, the car has a stand alone aftermarket ECU, im guessing this pin only works when the factory computer is in place then?

lol.. you boys are looking at that shit on a slant and talking about the ignition readings when the terminal plug is earthed out and not earthed out.
Earthed out = 5'BTDC
Not earthed = 8'BTDC
Obviously you run the car to normal op temp first and then turn off. Earth out the plug and set the timing to 5'BTDC. Then unearth the plug and check the timing again = 8'BTDC.

Well of course earthing the pin isn't going to work with an aftermarket ecu.

I'm assuming this is Dom's car? Plug a laptop into the autronic, lock the static timing, adjust the CAS, unlock static and done. If you don't have the cable, just stop call Matty, he'll do it for you, takes a couple of minutes.

To be honest, I wouldnt be messing with it, without pluggin a laptop into it. Its static timing in the ecu, could be anything, and you really should sync it, otherwise you may have far too much timing, or far too little, both can cause damage.
