VL turbo fuel pumps are generally a straight swap?

Just go to a wreckers and ask for a camira fuel pump.. they are the same model ( save some cash. )

Or a bosch 040?

just get a surgey, pre pump and a good fuel pump and be done with it :P

Explain why you need a surge pump, pre pump and another pump, in a car that already has a baffled fuel tank, has no surge issues, and when you can buy plenty of intake pumps that will support 500hp and beyond?
Only time you will ever need a surge tank in a gsr/evo is if you remove the stock tank for some reason and run a fuel cell. Which you can buy with a baffled section to remove any surge issues.

No, This is not true. As evo's and gsr's have a single fuel pump which mounts in the tank. VL commodores etc have 2 fuel pumps, a primary small pump in the tank and a high pressure pump under the floor. So fitting a VL turbo pump is not a straight swap. To fit one of these you will need to have a fuel swirl pot to make the system work efficiently. primary feeding swirl pot, and high pressure feeding fuel rail.

I would doubt very much that a camira pump would have the same fuel flow rate and pressure as required to run a turbo charged 2 litre motor as they have nothing similar fitted.

An 040 pump would be nice also, but then it comes back to having to have a swirl pot to make the system work efficiently.

The cheapest/ best option without having to modify your whole fuel delivery system would be to fit a Walbro in place of your standard pump. They do take a bit off messing around to fit, but would definatly be the best cheap option. It is the same thing which i am running in my car... :D

Zimbie,

I'm not sure off the top of my head, but that number does sound familiar. I will try and find my receipt tonight and check what it says..

GSS342 Mate put that in his EVO 1 and apparently it was a very straight forward bolt in.

Standard GSR is 80lph as is the Evo 1. Walbro GSS342 is a straight swap, bar some minor modification needed to the cradle (Was For mine anyway) I used an Evo cradle in conjunction with the walbro in my GSR tank.

Finished assembly as pictured below :)

Nah I had no problems at all, it sat like that in my tank for about a year without the rubber perishing or anything. Pulled it out to sell it about a month ago and it was sweet as!!

hey guys, im actually trying to change the fuel pump now but am having difficulty getting one of the buts off, please correct me if i'm doing this wrong. i'l try post a pic but i'm a noob and not sure how. but it's the main line where there is a nut welded on and the bigger nut which i assume unscrews, however when ever i release it it just moves back into its original position, like it's spring loaded to sit there. does this make any sence to any 1? i'm talking about the one where the spanner is, can't seem to get it off

From memory it is actually the smaller nut that turns!

Have a look at vfaq.com under the fuel section :)

How much time do you spend in a parking lot with your performance car? If you do a lot of parking lot driving, and hang out in parking lots, chances are you are a ricer, go home and read import tuner. If you’re complaining about noise you should not be modifying your car. You should also consider no longer being a man, please hand in your genitals at the door.
