FYI:

Alternator is a special order part. No other 4g63 alternator other than those specifically for the VR4 is compatible. Wyda's died on thurs and this is what we found out attempting to fix it. The alt's either bolt differently or supply lower current etc.
The 4G63 motor code is street shorthand for dominance. It's automotive Darwinism.

yer, pretty sure they will all bolt up (the ones from that era/runnin engine in that direction), but the current is higher on the vr4 ones :'(.. EVO ones might work but not sure...

How much time do you spend in a parking lot with your performance car? If you do a lot of parking lot driving, and hang out in parking lots, chances are you are a ricer, go home and read import tuner. If you’re complaining about noise you should not be modifying your car. You should also consider no longer being a man, please hand in your genitals at the door.

well well well, perhaps the problem has been sorted, upon pulling the alternator off, jonny found my turbo was being held on by 3 bolts, instead of 4.

car spools up HEAPS quicker now, feels like lag is a thing of the past!

i'm pretty sure she's running abit rich now, if another tune nets me some more power, then its back to the dragstrip we go

i saw the guy who worked on and tuned my car in st kilda today, in the white 'Horsepower Factory' a.k.a Amberley Autos WRX, im sure they sabotaged my car. Those fucking eat bums.

1) Injector o-ring dies after 3 weeks, almost causes engine bay fire

2) Screamer pipe decides to fall off just outside my house at 5am on the way to the airport

3) 3 bolts holding turbo on :D

Or am I just being paranoid?

What do you guys rekon?

Oh yeah, thats not the end of it, went out for lunch and a little st kilda cruise, car decides to start doing some weird electrical shit, some shit i've never seen a car do before, all the headlights and interior lights work perfectly, but theres no lights on the dash, clock or any action from the engine, even when you try and crank it

and the alarm doesnt work.

I'm thinking fuck, alternator? again? there werent any ABS or battery lights come up like last time?

2 mins later im scatching my head and the car locks itself. I buzzed out, clicked the alarm, it works- I hop in and it starts.

Does the exact same thing again at the shops, went back a few hours later, hopped in and she started again first go.

you gotta love cars dont cha
