Tempting, for the radiator brackets anyways. I do like mine body coloured though. If I end up doing a carbon, on black anodised airbox, they would look the part.

3 Months or so. Still a fair bit left to do. Reassembling the engine again this weekend, final time . Still need to get the rear end back in the car, finish the boot install, interior back in, engine/box in, fab the front section of the exhaust, the cooler pipes, make the oil/air seperator, airbox etc. It just takes time, I could slap it together, but hey, I havent cut any corners yet, and I don't plan on starting.

No you havent cut corners, which is good, but youve definately gone Brisbane to sydney Via Perth..:w00t:
How many setup changes have you had now? just stirring..

Also can you weld? im not far from youre place, let me know how it goes when you do the exhaust etc...

LOL feels more like it's gone bris to gold coast via a world trip haha

Too many changes hey. 7 turbo's, 4sets of cams, 2 cranks, 2 sets of pistons, 4 sets of injectors, clutches, manifolds, wheels LOL the list keeps going.

Yeah, can weld pretty good. However I haven't welded a single part on the evo. I'm fortunate enough to have a father who is the best fabricator I've ever come across.

hey Todd what are you going to do for a catch can/seperator? Have you seen what the Crawford or Buschur ('cough cough' Crawford ripoff) are constructed like inside? I want to get rid of my vent to atmo can, im sure your doing something similar.

I'm running one very similar to what mitsi used to make for the old cordia/starions although much larger. They run a baffled canister, with separators at approx 15 degree, with multiple holes. The seperators are double layered, larger holes on the lower section. Will have a permanent drain to the dump, for minimal maintenance and recurculate the clean air back to the intake.

Todd, I am very interested in seeing what you're doing for a catch-can setup. Do you have a pic or something of the starion/cordia one you mentioned so I can get an idea of what to ask my mate to fab up for me? I was sketching something up along those lines and then saw your post so decided to cut down the amount of work I need to do (why re-invent the wheel!?)

Hey Shayne

Here are some pics of an old cordia one. My plan is to make one significantly larger, dual inlets for both rocker cover ports (-6 fittings), -10 return to air intake/box. I'll also be using fine stainless steel mesh in between to further filter the oil.

I'm actually surprised most people just use a catch can, which doesnt really work that well. An open catch can, really isnt the ideal solution.

Here are some pics for you.

Ace! Very detailed response as I would expect from you Todd

So it's in from the rocker at the bottom of the can, out to the air inlet from the top of the can?

I've seen a couple of sketches on some other forums similar to that concept, but they specify stainless steel wool (the rough curly type) to be sandwiched between two filter plates. I'm a bit reluctant to go putting stainless wool in there for some reason (I can just picture bits of it breaking loose and winding up in my turbo...)

i wouldnt recirc any catch can oil/blowby back into the sump especially if you leave your car outside at nite, alot of milky condensation builds up in there which cant be good going back into the engine. There were people complaining about it with the buschur catch cans on evom. I think the best way is to vent the outlet of the can into the intake for legal reasons but dont have a sump drain back at the bottom, i know how much condensation i get in my can after a few weeks and it never sleeps outside.
