It is not like I am trying to cheat someone. It seems that Vicroads officer was not sure about laws in other states.
So clearly this car can be registered in VIC, QLD and SA.

Thanks for your expert advise. I am changing topic accordingly.

Cheers

I have regoed a couple of the same type of vin here in wa .............no problem here at that time.

the guys at the pits aren't concerned at all about that and say the onus of issue of the vin lies with the officer that issued it.....not them. as far as they are concerned the vin would only have been issued if the car was inspected to the relevant adr laws and then deemed to pass to those standards. they also said that the standards apply Australia wide........hence the car is safe for use on any Australian road. as to whether certain states prohibit repair of write offs .... is another question and one the buyer needs ask........before they buy.

I guess what all this discussion comes down to is that a serious buyer would take the time to investigate for themselves what the legal/state requirements of registering this vehicle would be. That way they would know exactly what information they had to request from the current owner in order to process their side of things.

All that said - it's a sweet car mate, GL with the sale.

Called RTA (NWS) and Dept. Transport in WA.

There is no problem registering my car in both states.

So this car can be registered in any state.

Is there proof? Did the RTA changed the rules? The last i checked no REB or REP can be registered in NSW.

I called them last Friday. Since there is no repaireble wirte-off record under this VIN number, this car can be registered in NSW.
