The way it happened...
- I was driving home turning off Melton Hwy, only1.5k's from home.
- I simply gave it a squirt in 2nd, another squirt in 3rd with only about 1bar
- Let go of throttle (about to shift to 4th) and bang. Well it didn't really sound like a bang, more like something "crumbling" is the way I put it
- Can't recall if the clutch was in or not. I try to recall it but all went too fast....
- Bit of oil sprayed on the windscreen, smoke over and under the car and no fire
- I let the car roll for a few hundred meters to get closer to home Lol. But when the car behind me got closer I pulled over to the side.
- JayRome towed me home with the Galant GSR and that's history

So up until now my car hasn't missed a beat and disappointing to happen at this time of the year. None the less, I did know the risks and was kinda prepared for it after burnzy constantly reminded me - Even before his blow. Maybe I should've boosted to reach the 300 number . Atleast I got my 11 second time slip.

So yes, TMAK will be back bigger and better in due time. Still deciding on which avenue to take. I guess just watch this space...

Some pics from the night.

The cylinder head is still intact, belt is still tight and so far looks good through the spark plug holes. Hopefully it's still good.
Turbo looks as new still...

Another angle of cylinder #3... seems like all others survived.

Cheers mate, I actually was already where I wanted to be and was happy with the setup and the car.
But yes, due to this it'll now force me to another path with forged goodies, more capacity, bigger puffer...

This update was from EvoOz (31/01/2012). - I keep failing to update this thread.

Guys, not much updates. I've been interstate (SA, Gold Coast) and the decision making is doing my head in... I've been working too much. We shall see where I go with the engine choice...
I did however sell the HKS 7460R to evolutionTME from EvoOz who's now making 263kws on 100ron. - I'm very undecided on what turbo to run next obviously larger but mostlikely still BB.
I sold my FIC 1250 which ended up in burnzy's car. I've gone slightly bigger and purchased FIC 1450cc off Tim (brisvr4)
I sold my DW300lph to JayRome and bought a Wally 400 which is now in burnzy's car - Awaiting new Wally 400.

Only work I've actually done was dropped the fuel tank again and cut the steel lines to make it easier to access the fuel pump.
There is no mod required to fit the Wally 400 to the CP cradle (physically). I did rewire from walbro to the stock pins. I will however re-wire his pump relay direct to battery though.

There prolly won't be updates for a long time. So I'll just say...

Seeing I have no motor the only other work I've been doing is porting.
- o2 and wideband sensors checked
- I got a new rotary tool and tried it on the dump pipe that JayRome made me. I know I ported the wastegate side I was just testing out the new toy...
- Exhaust manifold has been ported right through each runner and is finger smooth so should be good.
- JayRome got the head shaved for me so should be good to go once bottom end gets sorted.

Hey Tim,

Hope to see the beast running again soon!

Just noticed something, assuming the second O2 is the wideband?

If so, shouldn't be further down the exhaust just before the cat? That's where I had mine on the Vr4 and I'm getting one put in on the EVO this week in the same location.

Cheers,
Jack.

Some say accuracy, some argue... Kind of like when someone gets a dyno tune and a wideband is shoved into the exhaust tip. Is that so accurate?
Yeah, I'm hanging to get the car back on the road. Only time will tell...

I don't think its so much to do with the accuracy as such but with the extremely high temps being that close to the turbo may damage the sensor.

Up to you either way, i'm using the AEM and the manual says to mount it as far as you can down the front pipe bofre the cat.

Cheers,
Jack.

Ah exhaust temps, fair enough. No probs so far... JayRome mounted it there...
Me and burnzy were even joking about putting 1 per runner in exhaust manifold due to the whole "injector gunk" issue lurking around Lol.
