I finally took my VR4 out for the first time and had a chance to test my car!

I started the day with a 14.4 with a 4 sec 60 fter. I basically rolled over the line and waited for a friend to fang it before I gave it some gas. While I was waiting for him, he was waiting for me!! Anyway, I managed a 14.4 @ 128mph. The track we were at is known to have a dodgey timer/clock on the right lane so I didn't think much of it.

The 2nd run, I had a few issues with missfiring so the next 3 or so runs was basically me logging and trying to suss out the problem.

By the 6th run I knew it was not tune related and decided to change out the plugs as I had previously installed some new plugs gapped to approx 1mm. I am running an M&W Pro 14 CDI so I thought 1mm would be ok but I guess not! Anyway, I swapped out the plugs to standard 8 heatrange plugs with a .8mm gap and the missfire had completely vanished!!

So the 6th run, I attempted to launch the thing and I failed miserably! (being the first time I have really ever tried to launch) As I returned to the pits I was greeted by the news of running a 12.7 @ 130mph! So off I go again for another run! The times started to drop from high 11's down to 11.08 @ 132 mph with a 1.89 60fter. I believe I'm short shifting 2nd as the wheel spin is making it hard for me to judge as the shift light flashes like a guy in a trenchcoat outside of a boys school.

The tune has a heap more out of it as this was my run in tune with low boost and safe timing. It was just good to be able to go out and have fun in the car again! The last time I raced it I had a pb of 13.6@101mph!!!! That was on a 23g and stock motor.

Congrats to those boys who also ran their pbs on this day!!!

The H22a Civic... poor guy broke it on his first run!!!

He was running 13's previously but this time had some semi slicks.... he took my trailer home so I drove back all the way to Melbourne in the VR4. Lucky it is still a street car!

Thanks for posting up pics Baz.
Not bad for a Magna  :P
Bit strange about the M&W CDI setup, you'd think that there would be plenty of spark at 1mm. You may have to check how muc voltage you are getting to the CDI and/or play around with the dwell.... unless you are mistakingly using spark plugs with inbuilt resistors in them?

Good stuff baz! Im sure its nice to drive her like she was meant to be driven.
Great mph to!

I'm only on stock ignition system, but when i started to run over 20psi i would break up with a 0.9mm gap, but i put it down to 0.75 and it went away. Upon reading up on the ecmlink tuning forum, a lot of guys running 20+psi on stock systems run a 0.7mm gap. So 0.8mm on the higher boost your running, with the uprated system isn't too shabby in comparison to what a stock system would be running producing that much power.
