Everything is mechanically back together and i had to go back to my old toyota soarer intercooler, because it fits better than the vr4 intercooler. To get clearances for the motor ,i had to move the bonnet's middle support bar just 5mm because it hit my timing cover. Then i found out that the timing cover hits the bonnet skin still, the old bonnet was fibreglass and i think it flexed a bit over the cover.Anyway i wont run the timing cover for now or i have to get a hump in the bonnet to clear. The whole car is a real mix and match for parts to fit,Brakes are 1981 lancer brake booster with a 1983 mazda 323 brake master cylinder .Vr4 motor,1981 lancer 5speed gearbox.Magna flywheel, sigma clutch pressure plate and scorpion clutch disc. The magna flywheel gives me a 225mm clutch on a small boltup gearbox.Great cheap combo that dosent slip for me doing mid 13's and nice and light pedal for everyday driving. But my motor is only standard running 14psi boost, and the car only weighs 1000kg.
The dash is now all VDO electronic gauges including speedo, and i will get i coverd in vinyl later.

Nice build. Your plans to enjoy it on the road or take it for some track fun?
Just road use,Thats what ive been useing it for the last 10years with that motor and 30years before that standard between my father and I.It actually gets better fuel economy than the standard 1.8l cast iron pushrod motor.
I tried track work and the problem is that with the vr4 motor in ,it changes the cars catergory. So i get put in to special class which is westfields and cobras, they flogged me.
another problem is that my handling and braking is safe and comparable if you dont be an idiot. But to be competitive i need to spend thousands on suspension, brakes and tyres. I tried club racing in the mg car club, and other than i was not a good race driver, they are so competetive that they even buff their race tyres within so many minutes before a race to get optimum grip and adjust tyre pressures to .1psi accuracy.
But on saying that they were very good race drivers, they could get their MGB's doing the same lap times as MX5's.

that looks mad!..

Thats all right ,then they wont hate me as much..LOL
MG midget would be great at 200kg less and 3/4 the size of the MGB,it would be insane to drive. But if i had clearance problems i would love to see the midget getting a 4g63 squeezed in.Just the stupid chassis rails on the MGB dived in towards the block at the front, with only 20mm gap between block and rail each side. So i had to make an adaptor plate for the whole oil filter housing to be remotely connected with hydraulic hoses and even high mount the alternator off the original power steering area.

Was it overly hard to do?
getting the motor and gearbox in wasn't too hard, but getting room for all the ancillery stuff like turbo, air cleaner, intercooler to fit in was the hardest.I was driving the car round for 10years with all the stuff in but not really finished off neat, just functional.
Funny thing was that, when the original mg gearbox finally lost all syncros at the 500,000km mark and i was sick of double up clutch and double declutch for gear changeing,i priced a replacement.About $1500 second hand or $3000 rebuilt because parts have to come from england.so it was cheaper to do the 4g63 conversion and engineering than to rebuild my motor and gearbox, even with me doing it.

yer the Midgets were literally Midgets... i'm an average sized person and i have a hard enough time getting in and out of it. but even with the cast iron 1275cc engine and the twin side drafts, they go pretty hard for something made in 1970's, it handles like a go-cart around corners. and stock they came with just a 1.75" exhaust with extractors and a resonator on the end, they still sound nuts on high rpm!......
only thing that shits me...... cleaning the bloody WIRE WHEELS OMG!!!!
