I'm still seeing deluded GSR owners trying to sell their "Evo 3's" for more than this, let alone Evo IV/V & VI's going for more than 16-17K

Are deals like this too good too be true? What giveaways are there (if any) when looking over cars like this or when test driving them?

Cheers

Im on this same train of thought and will be interested to see what the replys are.....Im considering trading up a few digits of the Evolution ladder  sometime this year if all goes to plan.............

I also saw your post on EvoOz re: the black one for $19k......Although that seems to be a genuine car/seller.........

Just wondering if you noticed, the car in link is a GTA, as in an Automatic also?

They are getting really cheap now here in sa aswell!
One of my mates sold his 7 for 19k and was in reasonable condition.
One of my other mates just bough an 8 for only 22k! Also in reasonable condition!

Am I right to say that the tmes are holding some more value than 7 & some 8s?????

That's the other thing that's confusing me - TME's definitely appear to be holding their value compared to 6's / 7's regardless of spec!!

I know that's my boyhood dream car, and anytime I see one for low 20's i.e. 21-22K I get very interested!!

Is that just a mid thirties man trying to to live out his boyhood dreams thing!!

I paid 23 for a gta dressed as a evo 9 with big wheels, paint and interior done for the misses. But I have seen gta's go for 15k compared to Manual. The gta is a little bit quicker than the manual too, being auto...

Lol. who told you that? GTA has smaller injectors, smaller turbo, different ECU. Not to mention looks like a Lancer.
Mars got his blue VII for 19k in Adelaide and after some new wheels it looks awesome. Evo 6/6.5 have larger turbo's than 7/8 so make more power of the bat. Only real advantage is the technology upgrades in the VII and VIII (engine, diff, gearbox, ECU) obviously they look a lot newer with the new shape. Jonathon, if your keen on an Evo.....you know who to talk to ;)

Well it def looks like a evo 9 to me mate and all gta's i have looked at have wide body gaurds like proper evo's. A mate of mine has a 7 manual and the gta is a bit quicker off the line and puls sorta 1/4 car lengh away for the best part of 250m's.

If u could chuck a pic up of a fully optioned gta that looks like a stock lancer i would love to see it? I know gta's came with werid wings and no bonnet vents and recaros BUT all of this could be optioned at the time of sale!

Bargin !!! Enjoy the auto. Can be made unbreako..

I know these guys asking over $20K for the early evo's

I had to put mine up to $25K so people stop trying, the best offer was $22.5 from NSW , if they called the misses I'm screwed , I would get home and the car would be gone , and yes its happened in the past <_<

I would rather a Evo 6 before a evo 7 , after driving both , I still like the 7/8/9 and 10 also though , the evo 1 to 6 were all built as rally / race cars before they where ment to be road cars , and then the 7 to 10 are more for road cars before race cars,

but they are all different , and it depends on what you want to drive at the end of the day

Where the hell did that statement come from??

All evo's and I'll even include Galant VR4's were all built as road going cars! that you could take straight to the track from the showroom floor and race end of story
the only difference between 1-6 & 7-10's that after all the evolutions of the evo they got more refined along with technology as the models were produced.

I think what he was getting at was Evo 1-6 was designed to be homologated to win the WRC as a Group A car, where for the Evo 7 Ralliart had moved onto WRcar specs which has little relevance to the road car and then wound up their WRC program.

Evo 7-10 has still been run with alot of factory support in the PWRC with lots of sucess so there still is alot of competition relevance in the later cars.
