turbo will be the evo3 big 16g, pending a new cartridge. we have custom dump and full 3in

got the front wheels fitted other week and yesty got the lowered springs back and chucked them in. $60 bucks to get springs reset 38mm lower.
we now have the stance!

well the engine is in as of 2 weeks ago. tho it not running or finished yet. had magna oval intake on the 055 afm and it doesnt fit between the cas. have received the correct evo bend (thanks EVOCPE) and it fits although very tight. will be ok for a while.
am doing the wiring changes with the altenator on opposite side and the plug under the afm near the chassis rail needing wires run everywhere!
going to look at a bumper for the ute, it is one of those ugly evo ones with the lights in them, but its cheap and it should fit the intercooler behind it
i tried to start it other day without everything finished and it wouldnt even crank or click or anything, but i found that 1 power wire was unplugged and another needed to be run and connected. so i am a little relieved that i found these issues. any way we are getting closer to it going and i hope its going before thursday when i go back to work.

no leads on a 2.4 g4cs block yet, i have rung most of the wreckers in perth and started on the country ones, also started ringing engine recon shops in the hope there is one laying around. there is still one in qland but at 1000 bucks i not interested. may have a lead on a crank but would like a block as well. looking in quokka and have a ad in gumtree too. who would have thought late 80s jap wrecks would be scarce.

they come in older than 1992 sonata only. just wanting as a minimum a block and crank suit rebuild. as long as hasnt run dry on oil or spun bearings will be fine. just a 100k to 300k smoky old rebuilder.
i will be putting new rods and pistons in it and rebuilding it. i have a head already for it.

i can remove. wanted a 2.4 single cam block or engine. suit rebuild so kms dont matter. as long as it hasnt run out of oil and seized. i can get whole car if required or just pull engine where it is. auto or manual is fine. not running is fine. from 1987 to 1992. (not the dohc 2.0) cash paid

they have a awesome website they say is updated every hour or so. they have nothing old enough for me. though there is 3 2.0 g4cp which are the 4g63 6 bolt engines with ports size inbetween evo0 and evo 3

got my alternator loom completed, left the old loom under the radiator as the 2.4 or 2.0 has alternator back on radiator side of engine.
finished the 6 pin plug under the AFM and its associated wiring.
picked up a evo style front bar so i can fit the intercooler easier, and grabbed a bov from nrw31. thank you.

when the wiring was finished i gave the starter a tickle and lo and behold, it started (after waiting for oil pressure of course)!
i think its more of a relief than anything else, as now i can continue with conversion rather than think that it might not go and have to put 1.5 back in

thats not on yet, just fired it without afm, turbo piping, exhaust, radiator.
just needed to see if it would go as ive never seen this engine even turn over

this was the wiring the other day. had me scratching my head. i cant take peoples word for what wires go where, i use it as a guide and then verify with wiring diagrams. still saves a heap of time if you have help with where to look


then as of stumps tonight.

i was surprised the intercooler piping went straight in. i got rid of the resonator in the guard. there was nothing to cut, even on the radiator support, there is a hole supplied that is perfect. some holes are missing thread and i still need to put in the intercooler bottom bolts and the top pipe brackets. getting closer though.
tomorrow, i have to get a end cv changed, the other bit that is not the cup is pretty tight and its seized and cracked. while he is doing that, i will pop around the corner and get some stainless bends so i can modify the sedan exhaust to fit the ute. it is a 3in system with a magnaflow muffler. tempted to dump it out the side, but there wouldnt be a muffler in it then. also was thinking of keeping the little tip as a dummy pipe to keep them guessing.

hi all,
had to get a new outer cv for pass side as it was seized from impact damage. so i did that today, and got both axles fitted plus did all the mounting for the evo intercooler and lines. i stole a radiater support from a guy who was throwing out a shell so that gave me all the factory gsr mounts. just remove and replace. (thanks cwolf)
progress is a bit slow, but it is still progress.
tomorrow is mounting the front bar, or maybe fuel tank, or radiator, or put interior back in.
what am i doing here, i should be out there doing it.
