okay guys well im starting to buy bites for the turbo conversion on my 2006 2.4L lancer. someone on another forum "LWNSLW" has informed me that the 4G63T head from an evo 4-9 will drop right onto the 4G69 block.

there are no after market turbo manifolds etc for this model and the stock ecu cant be used (being designed purely for N/A)

now i have 2 options:
- find complete evo head ,ecu, afm, etc and use that. (the downside is im not sure if the evo ecu will work propperly as the cylinders are bigger.. could it be reflashed? (im guessing it wud work the same as having a stroked 2.4L 4G63?)

- use stock head, aftermarket haltech EMS which will cost around $1500 for this model  cut and weld a new flange on the evo turbo manifold.

wich way would be the best way and the most cost effective way?
im looking to complete the whole build for under $5000..

some advice would be greatly appreciated! :D

thanks guys!

then buy a gsr........with an evo conversion! Funnily enough I have one for sale!!

when thinking about such a conversion...it isnt as simple as hey just drop a dohc head on and go....there is also different belts and the tensioner. you also need to drill and tap a hole in the block from memory.

to do this and have it work I think your going to need a full engine .....albeit a dead one....just to make sure to get all the bits you need.

BUT the reality is that it will be cheaper in the long run to buy an evo........if you are concerned about insurance ....perhaps you had better check what your premiums will be after you have converted this car....... they wont be that much different to insuring an un modified evo.

As Brian said, it's not as easy as it seams, there's alot of trial and errors

From memory of people doin the similar conversion on an older lancer with either the dohc head or mivec head, the end price was around 8-10k at least

The stock ecu won't work as thenignition points are different, you will need to get an aftermarket ecu

Also you will need to get custom rods and pistons, maybe even the bearings

Take the advice listed.

You will find that with Shannon's insurance it's not that bad...

I don't see this conversion being as easy as you think, for some reason. Not sure why just got that feeling....
