Hey guys got a really wierd one here!
Long story short is.............
94 aus cc gsr. Been running fine with a new 040 pump in it and then one day it wouldnt start. couldnt hear the pump at all.
2 days later it started fine and now has done the same thing again.
had my mechanic look over it and test the pump ect and couldnt see anything wrong.
now my auto elec has it, tested ecr, pump, ecu ect and its all working as it should be but the car still wouldnt start.
auto elec replaced the 040 with a Goss GE 043 pump which is recomended for the 4G93T and now it starts. weird i know but whatever works is cool with me.
the problem now is that it idle's at 300-400rpm and chokes and splutters with a few revs on the dial.
Anyone have ANY sort of idea on what this may be? and what may fix it??
any help would be awesome!
thanks

this is going to sound weird...........I had an issue the other day that I thought was a dodgy pump. the car has a new walbro in it and it wouldn't start.....cranked and had spark but no fuel. after much stuffing about. it suddenly started but the pump was making grunting noises and the check engine light came on. so I hooked up the ecmlite cable and the error codes all pointed at the afm. I found that last time i had worked on the car I mustn't have plugged it in properly. I unplugged the afm and sprayed some contact cleaner into it.
check engine light ...gone. AND the pump stopped making strange noises.
I ran it like that for a couple of times and no more issues......but changed the pump out... just to be sure
