I have located a roof in good condition from a Proton Wira/Persona 95 model

they are the same arnt they???

apologies if it has been answered before but in 3 hrs i have only got up to page 20........

yep the same......and apparently about 600/700 new from proton.

thanks for reply, its looking good
will let you know what i pick 1 up for

[if any one is interested] i hunted down an ac compressor
fat chance in aust but i picked one up in NZ at a good price.......NZ$
found 4 in Sweden........

The roof skin is called the Turret, did u mean the rails and bows?? if so then yes, when you replace the skin you need to replace the rails/bows otherwise the rust will come back and eat the new skin

mmmm I was planing to use some product like POR to stop the rust, but I guess i should pull the head lining out and see just how bad the ribs are as well. Mitsi have quoted my panel guy over 800 for the turret plus rubbers and stuff it was looking at about 1200, excluding any ribs.

Is removing the head lining pretty straight foward?

yeah it's preety simple just dicky

take off the sun visors rear veiw mirror a pillar b pillar and c pillar covers and the interior light the peel away the door rubbers you then want to carfully pull the lining downby this time not alot of force is needed and it'll likly just drop on your head.

once it's loose that hard part is getting it out of the car.

thanks man
whilst i am mechanically minded, there is nothing like drawing on experience, 'cause its those tricky little things that that can make you swear
cheers

Well all parts in

roof panel the first roof arrived dented, the second one fine
drip mouldings [bottom of a pillar to bottom of c pillar]
upper windscreen rubber
upper and lwr rear window rubbers

total thru proton $ 672.00 , this included a discount when i asked, nice guys

total thru mitsubishi $1650 , discount, no way

guess where I went.

Now I've got some work to do

Did u get the rails/ribs?

Thats an awesome price

No rails/ribs, i am thinking / hoping that [up to a point] no matter how bad they are i can repair them.
yeah i was more than happy with that price.
there is a dented roof in perth and should still be 1 in Sydney

Anyone got a vin no for a wira sedan so i can order these parts?

Spike did you get those from regents? Did you need a vin number?

Cheers

yep they insisted on a VIN, which left me wondering for a while.......
however any vehicle for sale on ebay etc usually has a VIN
or
PR-MB945513 ROOF PANEL
PR-PW534221 MOULDING LH [ THE LOOONG ONE]
PR-PW534222 RH
PR-PW534232 WINDSCREEN UPR
PR-PW534234 R WIND UPR
PR-MB696794 R WIND LWR

and yes from regents, they were good to deal with, nice guys

I wonder if any of the Proton models come with the sunroof in them also? Anybody know??
I need to do my Evo 1's roof asap and hoping i can get one through them rather than.paying top dollar from Mitsi...

Well I have been let down, never trust Niall the panel beater, I am doin it myself
I have stripped the interior, drilled out the spot welds, chisled out the front and rear spot welds
and put the trolley jack inside with a long chunk of wood, and popped that rusty piece of crap off
Presto no roof!!
I am told that panel bond and seam sealer are the magic ingredients and only a couple of spot welds on
each corner is the go now days, can anyone out there confirm this?
I am looking fwd to getting my baby back together
Also I have to replace the TX valve :( anyone got some helpful advice?
cheers

I have been grinding rust in the roof of my evo 1 today....wow there is some bog in there already.:(

what happened with the panel beater?

keep us posted on how you go....
