hey guys. ive just rebuilt an engine in a lancer gsr. ive decided to try datalog it, unfortunitly all the pins were missing from the comm port. i then found a 16pin obd2 port just above it all wired up. then after pulling the ecu apart it has a chip torque chip inside. i want to datalog the car so i made up a jumper kit (comm port one side obd2 other). i cant find where the black wire goes from the back of the comm port to on the car?.
i want to log the car am i better off re doing all the wiring straight from the ecu so there is no confusion in the wiring?
should i try run with the chip torque setup and look for a hand controller?

that black wire will go to the other obd plug you mentioned that is supposedly missing all the pins i think you will find it has one pin in it and thats where that wire will go.

it is a cc lancer gsr 94, the obd 1 plug has 1 black wire but the obd2 plug has two. they run behind the fuse box so i cant see where they go.
i believe it was converted to obd2 so the chip torque could be reflashed.

im confusing myself
the car has a obd1 plug which has been removed.
an obd2 plug has been wired in to accomodate the chip torque chip ( i assume to reflash it)
using my other gsr as a wiring diagram i have made a jumper llead (like a car trailer plug adapter) from the obd2 back to obd1 so i can use my data logger unfortunitly the obd2 plug has two black wires and the obd1 only has 1. i have no idea where they run because the go behing the fuse box.

Black evo 1 full road rego and done properly/legally
I have heaps of parts...but never the one I need.

I've tried using evoscan on the obd2 plug but that didnt work, then I rewired the obd1 plug so it has all the required wires and tried using TMO and mmcd but still nothing; however I've only had a standard chip in it. There was one more option to try but I ended up buying ecmlink and that works only on rewired obd1 plug.
That other option I didnt try are these guys here, apparently these kits work...
http://www.handheldh.../hhhd_store.htm
http://www.handheldh...t_pc_obdiv2.htm
Or if you have 92-93 gsr eprom, try putting that in and see if it'll work via obd1 once its rewired.
I wanted to try that but couldnt find a bin file for it. But have tried evo2 bin file and none of the above
ways worked (the car would start and drive but no datalogging).
ecmlink ftw
good luck!

snapon diagnosis will read the ecu for codes. you'll need the s14 key and the wire that uses both plugs at the same time. that cable does terminate in a com plug so you might be able to use that

thats what mine had how did you data log it?
had to wire an obd1 plug in......So I went to a wrecker and cut one out of a magna that had a shit load of wires going to it. unfortunately I still had to swap one pin position tho....then I copied the earlier one in the GSR I have. the colours in the obd2 plug that are in the series two cars plugs were the same as the wire colours in the series one obd1....I still checked them out tho to see that they went to the same places.
fitted a ecmlite and all done

No, you need the ECMLink Evo 1-3 chip and then move a jumper on the ECU board to accomadate the extra memory that ECM chips utilize. I've done a few now and it works great.
If you have a ECM V.3 VR4 chip, I can swap you the Evo 1-3 chip as I have a spare one here.
Cheers Mike
