Hey guys, not sure if this is the right place to post this question but here goes.
When I purchased the e7 it came equipped with a greddy profec b spec 2 ebc set up in the car, and a red defi boost gauge connected up to the defi-link control unit. Id like to run the defi aswell as the ebc.
I had a bit of a fiddle with the defi control unit and finally got the gauge to light up but its showing no vacuum or positive pressure, the needle remains at the bottom of the gauge. It looks like the Defi control unit in the bay is wired and plumbed ok I think? The black ground wire is grounded ok, Ive traced the other electric wire back into the car to the gauge and then to the link control unit and that seems to be ok.

The problems are; the boost gauge illuminates, but a small red light continually flashes at irregular intervals and shows no vaccuum or positive pressure as mentioned above. I asked a mate about it and he said: its not conected at the engine. the flashing light means the sender unit isnt connected.
I thought it was and looked ok, however my mate did tell me that the small wires in the control unit can perish very easily. Are these wires and plug ins replacable or will it be easier to scrap the gauge and set up, buy a new one and start again?

Anyone else on here run defi's and encountered similar problems and/or how to fix the problem? And could you post a photo of the set up in the engine so I can see if I have mine right.. Appreciate the help guys

This is the gauge and light that flashes:

The pins on the plugs on the control unit are easy to bend! Have you found the vac source yet? Where's that hooked up to??

vac source connected up to the FPR etc

Had a real close look today and I think im up for a whole new wiring system. it all looks buggered. better to buy a new gauge and set up? or purchase the individual cables? if thats the better option, where to buy them from?

cheers

I guess if the mechanical side of things (vac soucre) is all g then perhaps start looking at the wiring from the sender to the control unit. Then the wiring to the gauge. It's not cheap to replace tho- maybe get a good auto elec near you???

*Edit* check if the hoses are around the right way- cos if it can read negative pressure- it should read positive

Thanks Clutz,

Ive since pulled the gauge out, link box and sensor unit out. Ive managed to track down a website that supplies the wiring harnesses and found a few sensor units to buy. Prices arent too bad, might look into that on pay day

Cheers
