I know you guys like your pics, so took another one today after putting the intake pipe back in after Dirk modified it slightly. (He wasn't happy clamping a 3" joiner down on the CT26 inlet which is closer to 2.75") So he narrowed it down where it meets the turbo to match and supplied me with a new joiner to suit.

Took the opportunity to fit all of the joiners properly, tidied up the loom a bit and put the radiator in for good measure. mainly to make me feel better as it 'looks' more complete

Still feels like yonks before it'll be running but have targeted a Hillclimb later in the year as my first red mist event:

Hope to have a trackday or two under my belt before that to get used to the car again!

Talking to Kelford about some cam options, their off the shelf billets are a bit small for my liking. Hopefully come up with a solution for it :D

Oilcooler arrived today aswell

Threw the custom cam idea out the window, was going to require more money on valvesprings than I was willing to let go. So have ordered their 212-B off the shelf pair.

Hopefully they respond to my setup.

what else needs doing J-man

So little but so much!

Off the top of my head:

- Cam and camgear install
- Sound deadening removal
- Battery mounting and wiring
- Finish off the oil system (Remote mounted 4G63 filter housing, cooler and lines)
- Exhaust from the flexi back
- Drivers seat rails (Not happy with the current seating position with mine and Dirks quick afternoon job mounting the Sparco seat to the stock rails for a trackday last year)
- Roof rust
- Fit the Autronic and start it
- Run in tune and run in
- Set up the suspension
- Tune

Well shit, spose you guys wouldn't mind an update.

Some fabrication took place, bits and pieces here and there and it lives. The SMC turned out to be quite old and didn't have the Mitsi trigger option and dwell board. No worries though, a hacked CAS and twin Bosch igniter setup cured that. managed to destroy a turbo after the running in process was complete but still on run in tune. Turned out to be a dodgy switch meaning my solenoid was energised whether it was on or off. Car had pretty much 5 or 6 squirts free boosting which caused the compressor nut to back off slightly, enough to put the CHRA out of balance and bend the shaft. Whoopsie! SO: Upgraded the shaft to a TD06SL-2 and replaced the 20G with a new one, result is a slightly less responsive setup, but man does it give you a kick in the ass at 4500rpm!

New problem though, boost was out of control again, even with the solenoid disconnected. Nevertheless it had a tune booked so we took it up to the dyno and hoped to tune around it. That turned out to be the big fat fail, so I left the dyno with a 'safe' tune for around 1.3bar nd went back to the drawing board regarding the boost control. We decided the only thing it could be after a process of elimination was that the new found low from the larger turbine meant the wastegate feed we had (Which worked perfect with the TD05) wasn't able to keep up and what we were getting was good old fashioned boost creep. A session with the diegrider later the car now had only slight creep from 1bar to 1.2bar from 5-7000rpm. During the tuning session while we were trying to sort the boost control we saw about 210kW atw at 20psi with HUGE safety margins in the timing and fuel, so I am confident in reaching 240kW atw at 24psi with more agressive mapping when I can afford it.

Have added a few mods here and there. Fitted an Evo VI brake master cylinder, one of the best braking mods Ive done to be honest, make a massive difference to braking feel, nice high and hard pedal. Also added some CE9A rear lateral arms, they're boxed for extra strength, and also have spherical bearing swivel joints instead of the usual flogged out rubber bush.

Took it to Taupo racetrack in early august for its first run, sadly it was pissing down with rain the whole time - but that didnt detract from the fun really. The car was so chuckable at the current power level (I estimate around 170-180kw atw at 15-17psi) and I had a blast. Car ran faultlessly apart from gearbox shifting issues. May be pulling it apart later in the year and changing to a small hub Evo II/II 3rd and 4th.

Anyhoo, pics and vids: (Vids look slow as! Was hitting approx 200kph down the main straight)

Master Cyl fits right up, works best with an adjusted pushrod gap though (<0.2mm)

Seems taking people for a short blat is quickly becoming this cars achillies heel. My cousin was round this evening and I already had the car out whilst giving the garage a sweep out earlier today. He hadn't had a ride in it yet so we jumped in, put $20 gas in and headed out to my local thrash road. The actual part I give it hell is only about a minute worth and the car went well as usual, until afterwards while we were just cruising out to the main road the car lost all it's electrics. A quick investigation found that the circuit breaker off the battery had been tripped, along with a 40A fuse in the main harness (turns out to be the ignition switch fuse). Swapping it out and trying to crank the car causes plenty of smoke to come from the loom in the passenger footwell, so it seems I have a major short to locate in that general area. All going well I haven't fried the Autronic :|
