Havoc Fabrications is doing the work for me in Cheltenham.

Good team there.. The owner has a 10 second Stagea!

Looks strangely familiar to the Havoc Fabrication workshop in that hoist pic.

Seems the mobile site lagged to show the latest post until after I had posted that already. On a side note very nice work from there, definitely one of the 'go-to' fabricators in Melbourne.

The AMG is back from Havoc!

Time to pull it apart again and finish off the transmission wiring.

2 cars in the build.. Hard top decide which one to work on!

Nice front driveway/garage/work space mate.  Very jealous!

Thanks...

I'm in the process of getting a car port built at the front of the garage.

The AMG and stagea will them have some cover at least!

The covers really do help tidy the bay up.

My goal for the AMG was to make it a nice cruiser with more cosmetic and comfort appeal over power. The VR4 can take the power side of things...

Not yet. Pulled out apart to finish off the auto wiring and tb gasket etc. Will also wire in a few extra pressure sensors to the ecu and then fire it back up into life.

Then rwc and rego. it'll be my daily again!

So the AMG got some love this weekend.

F4a22 to f4a33 wiring conversion done!
All seems to be working. Solenoids click, wiring matches up from old to new box.

I just had to change the inhibitor switch which saved me heaps of time! After spending hours reading up and tracing wires from the Magna loom to Galant loom.

26c442966e4bd980fc94b50349e26599.jpg

So wiring done. Time to get battery back in and piping!

But before that, because of the Tb upgrade, some porting was required. I didn't want to remove the intake manifold so I masked the engine bay. Operating theatre!

Now I didn't really need the bigger tb opening but I didn't want the sharp edge for air flow either. So I just have the inlet manifold tb flange a taper.

The die grinder didn't like porting the alloy and kept getting clogged. Took me about an hour to do this!!

Now that the Tb was ready to bolt on, intercooler piping quickly followed.

Next part.... Purchase some constant tension Hose clamps and finish it off...

Just been chipping away at the car while the sun is out...

Got my constant tension clamps. As the metal heats up the clamps allow for additional compression via springs. And as it comes the springs maintain the same pressure on the hose.

I've had issues in the past where the clamps over time lose tension due to vibration? heat? Cold? Thermal movement...

Anyway, much better than the cheap worm drive clamps.

Hard to find stockists though. Had to go direct to Norma in bayswater near motec!

Also finished the intake pipe bracket and also the braided lines for the catch can.

2x -6 from rocker cover to can and 1x -12 to intake pipe.

I also purchase a new drive shaft for the drivers side. Tomorrow I swap the drive shaft (used old Magna one), fill auto trans, fire it up and go for a test drive!

Amg is bow driving on a permit. Rwc booked for next week!

It drives well and shifts as an Auto should. Yet to shift on WOT and go past 4500rpm. I'll enjoy it for a bit before I risk breaking things..

Updates are, Aldo the man came to the rescue when I reported some slapping type noise. His initial instinct said loose torque convertor bolts. He was spot on! Torqued it up to 55 ft lbs with loctite red and the noise went away! What a relief! Last thing I wanted was to pull the box out and troubleshoot.

So strut brace is on (hand polished and painted - thanks to Dasith for finding a brace that cleared the manifold) . Spark cover is on (painted). Roof vinyl wrapped (thanks Jurrel). The car got a full detail and only needs some small finishing touches externally.

The car went back to Havoc for a downgrade in performance but an upgrade in luxury.

The exhaust has been reduce from a 4" to now 3" with an active exhuast system still installed. The system comprises now of... 2x SS mid mufflers, 1x aes valve, 1x havoc whisper series mufflers. Twin 2.25 inch tips in SS.

The exhuast is now extremely quite! Now I can enjoy the music while driving! It's good when you can hear spool over exhaust note..

Played some pool with my dad while waiting for the AMG to be finished in Springvale. Man was this place dodgey... Good way to kill 45 minutes though..

Anybody interested in a FWD galant 4" exhaust system? Cat back.....

Let me know! Otherwise I might have to buy a gallant gsr and build up to a zr4 spec for my collection...

Looking good Barry!
The converter bolts seem low at only 55ft lbs though.
I have mine at a tad over 100 or so I believe.
Have a good read on Kiggly's tech section mate.

How much time do you spend in a parking lot with your performance car? If you do a lot of parking lot driving, and hang out in parking lots, chances are you are a ricer, go home and read import tuner. If you’re complaining about noise you should not be modifying your car. You should also consider no longer being a man, please hand in your genitals at the door.

Hi Tim, you must be thinking the flex plate bolts. The factory TC bolts were 33 ft lbs approx.

I just had a quick look and kiggly states 50 ft lbs plus.

http://kigglyracing....flexplate_bolts

Not sure if i am game to try 100 ft lbs without damage..
