Hey Shayne, good question.

I've thought about this and honestly, I feel comfortable to leave this for Mike and Frank @ Headspec to do. I did my previous one at springy motors (plus the AMG engine) using their tools and learning from Danny how to measure and what to look out for.

I don't have my own set of micrometres and bore gauges either and also don't have the space or time to also start assembling engines at home.

Headspec have 3 motors that they'll be doing for me so I'm happy to give them the full package from machining to assembly. This also protects me from any warranty issues (finger pointing when scope gets mixed up).

There is one thing I want to learn from them and that is how to correctly dial in the cams. So I'll be there while they dial it in so I understand exactly what goes on.

YouTube and reading just isn't the same.

This engine is going all the way and will be comprehensively measured and fully blueprinted.

So whilst they do the motors, gforce will look after fabrication work and I'll focus on the finished product and electronics.

Sounds like a good plan.

I'm at a point where I'll leave particular things to the people who do these activities for a living. Engine machining is one of them. Paint and panel + Dyno tuning also.

I've learnt that sometimes you can't do it all yourself and if you try to, you'll probably never get it done in a timely manner.

My website currently has links to some of the businesses I've used but it does need an update.

On topic, I do need a wheel alignment contact. I've been told Essendon tyre power is good..... Is that where you take yours Shayne?

Yes mate, Essendon Tyrepower in Niddrie look after mine. Good bunch of blokes who appreciate a project car. The owner has invested in a brand new alignment machine too.

The other place I've had an alignment done is Cascone Autosport. Nick does his alignments with a string but he can also corner weight the car if you have adjustable suspension.

Always love your builds Baz, keep up the good work!

I would love to know where you will mount the accumulator, do they like working with a high or low pressure source?

They plumb into the high pressure side. So they obtain high pressure from the oil filter housing and basically if supply becomes lower than the accumulator it will then be the supply oil to the engine until the pump recovers. I'll mount it either off the strut brace or in the boot or rear of the car

Sump studs upgraded to 8mm to assist the girdle and sump attachment.

High performance surface finishing assist with the micropolishing of the cams, crank, rods and oil pump. c9ebf103b4ce0f73139dd4829587b834.jpg00d3a9690c99184cd9f323bf004b9f3b.jpgdbcacfe676fd2345c4d564134ab12fde.jpgfeff577a098171fa029a13437b137e04.jpgc0db6e8a02f52781b2e9c8c986ad865f.jpg78ac9e8c688a2267a154fde563a4d659.jpg5251dda347bad2cdb15017df13bc6cad.jpg616d88c92327840af2e7dc884836f226.jpg

2L block vs 2.4L block.

See a difference?

I'll be drilling a few holes to improve the cooling. Hopefully balance out cylinder temps and eliminate hot spots. aa19c300dfb43d82907da5311a5ada17.jpg19d6372cf39f0cb7c5d8cd8ff3c5533f.jpg

Cooling channels aligned between the head, block and head gasket.

Lucky I had some spare heads to drill because it was quite nerve racking not knowing what was underneath.

I'll be logging coolant in and coolant out temps.

I've also got EGT probes per cylinder.
Might be overkill but I'm willing to give it a shot. 63ed0c8e93637707258e7273d9b0ce96.jpg770f5c502b461a6a08eab4c18b7e4d92.jpg8ab92eaec855f9129e467299726dddcb.jpg048a721eb444384c4ed5b09664f52ddb.jpg4bddc9fa1389286a0645c76526309a19.jpgb615520994479433ae637ffc302412de.jpg76193fa3778e24aaa66a3d0c99183238.jpg66bce9729b0db51ade7ef72f5e3122a6.jpg0ddff1a4532743dea676a1bb870600da.jpg

Yeah. The fun part starts!

Oh, and that is my water pump housing with Welsh plugs since I'm running an electric water pump. FYI.

The housing was ported to improve flow.
