Been a very productive few weeks..
Sump cleaned and reinstalled.
The dip stick I had was fine in regards to length.
So a 2litre stick and tube indicates oil level just at the big end bearing. So cold the oil would be close to slapping the oil but hot it shouldn't be....
The thorough clean up took quite some time. Plus after research, looks like the rtv of choice was the 3 bond super grey. As per Honda dealerships and Mitsubishi dealerships.
Intake manifold gets a major clean and nitrous fittings pre installed and capped off. For future use. Saves me pulling the manifold off in future. Nitrous express is best purchase from summit. Vpw don't stock much at all... Although Australia distributors.
50hp jets for now.
Idle valve added and ready also.
Clutch and flywheel installed. Direct clutch services also send me some exedy clutch grease. Not sure what makes it different but happy with the fitment and quality. Support Australian made products when possible.. Best service from the guys also!
Torwue spec 20 to 25 ft lbs on the cover (for future reference)

From denso to bosch plugs.
Loom also relocated from top to bottom of manifold runners.
Clearance is good. Had to remake my starter motor power cable to clear the Idle valve.
Time to upgrade the 5 th gear and output shaft.
Unfortunately the par 5th gear was not suited to my box. The one they made was for the earlier syncros (pre 91). . 62 ratio... So I'll be getting new ones made to suit. Thanks to Wade for sending Par a sample of the aus spec gears...
Eta 4 weeks.. So I'll may put the stock ones back in for the Xmas break...
I've also ordered new syncros from tmz. This man Haa excellent service. Sent me the package shipment details before I even paid him!
Next is tail shaft yoke upgrade to suit the new tmz transfer case.
Easy to do under the car and still attached. 1 big G clamp and some old wheel bearing races did the trick.
30 min job.

Picture this... 10pm at night. Crazy dude is outside in the dark high pressure blasting his transmission and working on the car alone.... Only the radio and sounds of his tools are audible..
My neighbours must hate me by now!
Gearbox is in after 45 minutes

A tip with the transfer case, slide long bolts in prior mounting onto dowels. They will not clear the sump otherwise. Grind for clearance also pre bolt tightening... I noted my exhaust will need modification.. Clearance between the sump and transfer has reduced to about 4 inches (flex pipe will need to be around the yoke area now.)
The bulfab stuff is great! The sub frame can pivot up and down without full removal. clearance is great also for exhuast and getting arms in.
Water pump next.
Upgraded to a 115 lph alloy pump. This is to work with the Evans Waterless coolant which is higher viscosity than normal coolant.
My old man came over for dinner so I had some extra hands to help.
Lucky i have stocked up on hoses.. No need to purchase any new ones with the slight pump relocation..
Connector changed to a duetch plug. Excuse the thumb nail. My daughter l like to play dress ups.
Dry ice box time.
Everybody alloy got a nice Polish pre install. Gym session at home!
On install of the Tb elbow. I notiiicced a massive crack.! Not good. How long has it been like this for?
Another delay :-(
Let's move onto the turbo drain upgrade. The -10 fitting actually reduced the tube size. So I decided to go all hard and maintain a consist size from top the bottom.
Hopefully this helps with the smokey exhuast at idle.
Gaskets mig to tac. Off to a mate to finish off in tig.
1 day to get the oil drain, exhuast and elbow done. Photos to come of finished products..
Updates now current!
Looking to get it completed by next weekend.

Jesus slow down Baz! Lol
Transfer case, scatter Shield, slave, axels, bulfab subframe are all next in line!

Haha. So close I can taste it!Jesus slow down Baz! Lol
Tb elbow cracks fixed with some added welds. Thanks to Boss Aluminium for welding on a Saturday night for me! Luckily we train together at the same gym. In exchange for my labour during the day. Good barter!
Dave welded my tb elbow, oil drain and modified Eng pipe on the exhuast.
The Tb elbow was paper thin and contaminasted so it wasn't the easiest or prettiest to Weld..
Old v new drain..
Genuine mitsu nuts and washers specifically for the drain.

The problem i had was that the AN fitting was smaller than the oil return hole in the turbo and in the sump.Shoulda put an AN fitting on the sump and just be done with it
Going tube all the way basically increases oil flow and takes away any restriction.
The difference was about 4mm diam if i compared the tube vs -10AN fitting.

But whats the plate in the elbow do? Smoothen out the air flow or something??

I had this intake manifold on the flow bench. We found that the air flow was not even across the ports. The elbow was made in conjunction with the flow bench testing. It basically took away the turbulence and balanced out the flow to the runners. Should have heard it without the elbow (like a helicopter) with the elbow all improved......Intake systems a work of art!

5th gear back in. This was a pain in the arse while doing it in the car. That roll pin and the Middle plate sealing with rtv is a pain horizontally.... But it's done... 3 hours later..
Havoc rear moustache brace is in also. This was out by 2mm or so at the diff bolt holes. Wasted 1 hour of time fitting it (once it was in, hard to get fully out. So had to drill etc while mounted to chassis but not bolted to diff cover).
So a few delays but should be running in about several more sessions with the car.
Adjustable turbo feed pressure and Guage installed.
Radiator heat wrapped..

Also can you post some results of the evans coolant compared to water/coolant temps as i have heard from a number of people it runs hotter than standard coolant.
Cheers

As for the Evans, I'll let you know. The motec dash will provide pretty accurate readings. Let me tell you this though, the prep fluid is like syrup!

So my feedback is that it is quite a messy fluid to deal with and not as clean to deal with due to the viscosity. When it spills, it stays there (doest evaporate) so hard to tell if it is an old spill or new leak...
Anyway, 1 hour later, all done!
Spent the day wiring up the Idle valve. 12v to centre pin. PWM to 2 other pins. The Autronic makes use of the valve using 2 outputs and inverting the other output giving rock steady idle control.
Fired it up at 9pm and didn't want to wake the kids so I'll play later today..
Exhaust hanger done. Drilled and tapped into my xfer case brace. Lucky i could do it while all still on the car without removing anything whatsoever! Right angle drill bit and tap was all that was needed.
Looks like a match made in heaven?! Billet on billet.
Adjustable feed pressure and gauge installed.
Currently got 40 psi at idle. Needs to see about 40psi max at full rpm!
This is to cure my smoking exhaust issue. But for some reason it doesn't seem to be smoking at all this time? Back on the ams oil. Previously Penrite..
[IMGs]http://uploads.tapat...6b167fbda6c.jpg[/IMG]
Some other bits mounted for rwc..
Washer bottle. Oil catch can (Plumback to intake -12). radiator overflow bottle.
Next step is tune idle. Bang through the gears on the jack stands to make sure the box and clutch work as they should.
Drive it out of the garage and tidy up for a rwc / club rego.
Going for a 9 second Street car...
Will be building a street exhuast as this one is loud AF!!!
Probably a cat back in 3.5 inch?
Then for race, F off 4 inch straight pipe out the back!
Getting excited!
