Hi All,

I've recently installed an autronic evo 4 smc in my evo 1, but Im having a few problems with sensors (air temp sensors, barometric sensors etc), the idle sounds like when you take the airflow meter and hunts between 700 - 1300 revs and sounds like its going to cut out. Not sure if anyone on here is a autronic wizz and could help me out because im trying to get it dyno tuned but my tuner is having trouble overcoming this problem.

thanks in advance

Do you have the air temp sensor in? removed the airflow meter and cut off the air temp wires and fitted the sensor?
I have the same in mine and it idled perfectly at just under 1000rpm with cams.
There is no reason that it shouldnt have a steady idle if done correctly.
Is your tuner familiar with Autronic?

From what i know he did connect the air temp sensor to the air temp wires but not sure if he disconnected the airflow meter, could that be the problem?

Im not sure how familiar he is with installing different autronics but he does tune them

The autronic has an internal map sensor so doesnt need the afm at all.
The air temp is just two wires from the AFM plug.
If it runs and they are the only errors I take it he has changed over all of the required pins in the ecu plug also.

ahh k yep i did try that air temp sensor still ran like crap even tried getting a new sensor, ill see if his tried disconnecting the Air flow meter.
I swapped the wires around rather then repinning because i found there is only a few wires that need changing and this way i can change back to stock ecu

I'll check with him but i think its map because the ecu was setup to run a pod filter with no afm connected to it, a long time ago before i got the ecu

I would suggest changing tuners if he doesn't know what he is doing.

I plugged my EVO IV ECU straight in and swapped the wires and had no issues.

Update it turns out the ecu is stuffed again :/ We tried logging it and a few other things, Richard believed it was a loom problem but they bypassed the loom completely and the problem was still there.

This Ecu will be sent back autronic for i think the 4-5 time, maybe they should just chuck it in the bin and give me a new one with the amount of cash i have thrown into it lol

cheers all for your input

I went through the same shit with my drag car, it had run for a total of 30hrs and had been sent back 4 times we had enough and through it in the bin and installed a Haltech Sport 2000.
We are still using the Autronic CDI and are having problems with that so to the bin that will go and M & W CDI instead. Autronic needs to update there shit Haltec is awsome im putting the same one in my 9 go the 2 step. we made more power on less boost with Haltec as well.
