I have priced a new cusco 1 way LSD for around $1300 for the front gearbox.

Is this

a) A good price
B) The best option for the track
c) Has anyone ever priced a Ralliart LSD?

thats a decent price for new luke.
one way is the go for the early evos imo. I have a ralliart 1 way in mine, by the time I had
it rebuilt and the preloads set it adds up a bit.
Cuscos are pretty agressive out of the box but they do settle down

Thanks for the responses.

I am going to buy the 1/1.5 way and have it set to 1 way. That way in the future if I decide I can upgrade to a 1.5 way.

I have looked online and OS but with the risk of tax over the $1000 purchase I decided a local purchase was the best option.

A) $1300 is a good price, especially locally for a new one.
B) A 1-way isnt the 'best' option for a track but it is definitely the most forgiving until you want to step up to 1.5 way
C) Nope.

Ive got a near new Cusco 1-way to put into my EVO box (see attached pic). I decided to use it instead and put my Ralliart LSD into another EVO box Im selling.
The Cusco wasnt driven with for long and it was definitely clunky and aggressive according to its previous owner.
2 reasons obviously being that it is near new and the fact that the gearbox had Redline Shockproof oil in it  .
Whatever you do, dont put Redline Shockproof into the transmission as it'll cause lots of clunk and shudder even with a lightly preloaded diff. You can however use that stuff in the rear diff where it livens up the factory rear plate type LSD's instead

Im not sure of your intended use for the Cusco LSD, but if people are looking to use one in their mostly street driven car, it is quite aggressive and you may need to make it behave better by choosing the right oil and reducing preload to a point where you can overcome initial torque relatively easy by rotating the wheel with both hands.
Ive been advised that this can be done by:
i) If its got cone springs you can tweak them up in a press to reduce their preload. If it has the little coil springs then you can take out every second one.
ii) If it has 2 ramp options, run the steepest of the two ramps as it'll give less bite under load.
iii) Deactivate one set of plates by swapping the internals around. So instead of IOIOIOIO make it IOIIOOIO (Inside/Outside plates).
iv) Choosing the right oil!!! As they are extremely sensitive to oil types, the oil Ive been advised to use is Motul FF-LSD Type 2. Its expensive but it came highly recommended.
