Hi guys, had my turbo fail the other day (zero boost while accelerating all of a sudden) Got home and stripped it down after finding sh1t tonne of side/side shaft play.
any who, while pulling it apart i found something in the oil return line from the turbo (see attachment). Was wondering if anyone could ID what it is, looks like a carrier for a bearing, but i didn't think turbos used this style. Turbo was a Garrett Gt3076r (stamped Gt3037).

in my 16g td05 there is a similar sized c clip. it retains the sleeve bearings in the bearing housing. there is 2 of them (1 for each bearing) on the insides of the bearings to stop them slipping into the oil return chamber. it looks like you have 3/4 of both of them, and so 2 small bits are in the sump
i bet thats what they are.
