From my looking and searching, I believe only 2500 were ever produced (in 1990? correct me if I'm wrong) with a retail price of $22600 for manual with frame code E-E33A-SNSS, $23400 for the auto with frame code E-E33A-SRSS, both of which were FWD only and not fitted with LSD. To put in perspective for an additional $1100 you could get a manual VR-4 or $1300 for the auto both with AWD and 177kw(some argue 148/151kW)/304nm as opposed to 125kw/191nm for the AMG, although the AMG torque curve held strongly to 8000 rpm. Not sure if these are US $ or Aus, and these prices were as of 1990.

Some more info, the AMG Galant had a 7500 redline, the VR4 had 7000 like the rest of the 4g family. Gets one to thinking about the engine mods, was it all just aesthetics, or did they play with internals? Hmmm
