Yeah I know. I've been in contact with him via PM and he's been trying to work out what model that VIN relates too. There's no doubting what the car around the VIN number looks like!

I would say they did a repairable write off on a cb lancer and changed the vin plates over to the evo and then just re registered it?

Are you able to break it down a bit more for me, with what letters and numbers mean what? Any idea as to if anything means GSR, EVO, GLXi etc?

By the way, I took a few pics of your car at Tailem Bend. Should have heard the idiots next to me "haha, he's got his mums car" ..they shut up once you started leaving V8's behind B)

Usually an AUS delivered GSR will start with JMFCC So I am assuming its from a GLXI or Executive models tags on it ??
Its definately not GSR or EVO VIN numbers.....

Either way its definately a re-birth of some description

But still an EXTREMELY nice car and most likely worth the $$$ asked

haha well it does look plain and not many people expect much of it :D

as for the vin I dont know what each character stands for in that era but im certain on the following..

first three (JMF) indicate country and manufacturer

the fourth one indicates body type, S- sedan, D-coupe, L - wagon

eighth one indicates engine type/capacity 2 - 4g15, 5 - 4g93

tenth one indicates what year it was made in, there is a table available for this but in your instance T stands for 1996

and its definitely vin number for CE lancer

for the colour I only said yellow because thats what came up on this site https://www.autocheck.com.au/

My coupes and my old wagon had JMFCC on their VIN#

I have seen this car dandelion yellow? he borrowed my suspension to get it over the pits....I spent about 15 minutes looking at it for the usual tell tale conversion signs.

There arent any! after looking at it for a while we concluded the number on the fire wall was the only thing that had been changed.....but so well done that there isn't a mark.

up close this a really nice car!......price..... well he has already said he will drop the wheels and susp to reduce price.

In my opinion....worth the bucks

Who cares really once u modify it your changing it from factory specs anyway. Just look at how many Vl turbo's are out there it's rare as to find a genuine factory turbo one these days. Just cause that car doesn't have ce9a stamped on the firewall makes jack all difference and it's so much cheaper then buying one that does so is a stamp on the firewall really worth an extra 10g I'd doubt anyone could justify that
evo III rs 10.8 at 135mph

if you're looking at the "jasevo3rs" car, looks like a martin grigg rebuild.. basically a whole evo including extra chassis bracing converted over to a normal lancer. either that or a nasty firewall swap. whats the deal with people painting the side skirt lettering in red?!

imo the CE9A on the firewall means ALOT, but that comes down to the individual.. if you're not an enthusiast, it is essentially the same thing.

as time goes the ce9a stamped car are going to either hold their value or apriciate. because they are genuine factory evo's. while alot of copies can be as good as to a colector/enthusiast who looking for an "evo" that little stamp means alot and imo yes the extra 10g

yes it's me KHUBNER

Some good discussion here guys and has cleared a few things up for me.
Out of respect for the current owner, I'm going to amend the first post slightly.

Edit: lol... looks like I can't edit my first post. I was going to get rid of the digits after CB in the VIN number :(

CE lancers have a small difference in VIN structure compared to CC lancers. Your VIN says about your car that its a 1994 CC Lancer Sedan Executive equiped with manual transmission and 4g15 engine. Genuine CC GSRs will have a VIN like JMFCC7S4....

If the car in question is a CC model and they've used CE compliance plates, thats quite dodgy. And if its not at least a CD5A body, just a normal cc lancer sedan, then the boot floor had to be cut out and new appropriate boot floor pan welded in to accommodate rear cradle. In my opinion its well worth paying extra $$$ for a CD5A, CD9A and/or CE9A body.

Its actually a coupe (but classified as a sedan on rego papers) also it came out with the 1.8 4G93 from factory
The difference with the VIN is that the 1.5 carby had JMFCC1M21, while the 1.8 efi had JMFCC5H21

ahh too many incosistencies out there. My understanding used to be that:
sixth charater is for trans. and motor together (1 - manual 4g15, 2 - auto 4g15, 5 - manual 4g93, 6 - auto 4g93 and 7 - manual 4wd 4g93 dohc )
seventh character for trim level (M -gl/glx, H - executive, P - SEi and S - GSR)
and eight for number of doors (I've always seen either 2 or 4)
but due to the cars I've owned and seen at auctions, wrecking yards and VIN structure theories; I was led to believe slightly differently lol eight character for motor, sixth for trans according to body type and seventh remained for trim. Unfortunately too many dodgy cars out there, or the VIN method used is not so strict. btw one of the cars I've owned was CC5H2 and used to be manual sedan with 4g15

And apologies to khubner1 if I scared you that your car might be dodgy or whatever :)
