Hey guys, ive been floating around on here for a while now and thought id add my pride and joy to the members rides.

Its a 2008 Proton Jumbuck GLSI that had a baby 4g15 but now has a much bigger heart and the following upgrades.

4G93T RS
new valve stem seals
new lifters
timing belt job
TD05 big 16G
evo 3 dump
custom front pipe
evo 2 FMIC ( painted black )
plazma man piping kit (painted black )
60mm throttle body
magnacore competition leads
GSR airbox / K&N filter
E3 AFM
E3 ecu, bayed, chipped and remapped
GSR wiring loom
walbro fuel pump
E10 BOV
Evo oil filter setup
GSR gearbox ( FWD lockup kit )
Genuine ( mitsubishi ) organic clutch kit & cover - inc Release bearing
GSR drive shafts
GSR K-frame
Ralliart enigine mounts
E3 strut brace
Turbosmart boost Tee ( currently running 14psi )

E1 f/g front bar
cc lancer guards inc - headlights, corners and sides
GSR bonnet ( carbon vinal wrap )
E1 Recaros
GSR door trims
GTI rims ( painted in satin black )
lowered king leafs ( so it now sits level )

Upgrades still to be done:
HKS RS suction kit
RS twin spot / DBA 4000 slotted disks
rear disk brake conversion

The conversion was done by Meek Automotive in Syd and im super happy with the results, I wanted a fun toy with a big set of nuts that would fly under the radar and ive definantly got that. I have been to the strip once and with very little launching and lots of wheel spin in 2nd and 3rd the best i could manage was a 14.9 @ 96 mph with a 60 ft of 2.6 on 12 psi and my gti 16's. Hoping to get back there again soon with different wheels and a bit more boost and better my time.
Ill get some pics up soon.

Cheers Dave

I hadnt heard of them before either but from what i have been told there were a few rally spec gsr's that were built and used in japan, the gsr that this engine was taken from was personally imported by someone that worked for mitsubishi and kept as a demo..as for actual differences with the engine im not 100% sure.

This is all I could find...Doesn't really mention anything about an RS engine but...just a 1st And 2nd generation of the engine..

Later in 1991, Mitsubishi released a high performance version of the 1.8-litre 4G93 – but, this time, turbocharging was used rather than MIVEC technology. With the switch to a DOHC head and an 8.5:1 static compression ratio, the 4G93T is equipped with a single TD04 turbocharger and air-to-air intercooler to deliver 143kW at 6000 rpm and 270Nm at 3000 rpm. Premium fuel is essential to achieve this output. The 4G93T was released in the late ’91 Lancer GSR and RS sedan – both with AWD and a five-speed manual ‘box. An auto version was released in the GSR during 1992.
A higher output incarnation of the 4G93T was released during 1994 in the snout of the Japanese market Libero GT wagon. With a higher static compression ratio (9:1), the Libero turbo engine is rated ahead of the earlier Lancer version – there’s 151kW and 275Nm at 6000 and 3000 rpm respectively. An auto or manual gearbox is available and all Libero GTs provide AWD. Note that the Lancer GSR/RS adopted the identical 151kW spec engine at the same time the Libero GT appeared. In 1995, the new Mirage VR-X AWD became the third model to receive the 151kW engine but, by this time, the Libero GT had been upgraded to 158kW/284Nm. The Lancer GSR (the RS now dropped) remained at 151kW.

So maybe its a later generation engine similar to what come out in a Libero ?
Either way..sounds like a fun little car...Be good to see some pics.

I had a GSR RS a few years ago, I dont think the engine was very special just a few differant parts from memory. The body had lots of differences though and I think the gearbox was better.

cheers for that info,i might have to throw it on a dyno and maybe that will give me some kind of idea if there is any difference. And cheers Jack,iv been watching your build come along nicely. AWD is on the cards but that is way down the track but that would also come with the want for more power :) ill try get pics up tomorrow when i get home from work.

Just an update on my buk.. In prep for hitting WSID again today,my suction kit finally arrived and was put on and i cant express how much this helped my traction problems and overall flow. I ran again on my Gti 16s and with no burnout i got my PB down from 14.9 @ 95mph on 12psi to 14.2 @ 98.8mph on 14psi with a 2.1 60ft and a 0.2 reaction time.. I was chasing the 13 mark hard and i know its in there but with it being 30+ at the track i wasnt game enough to wind it up to 16psi..

Just a note re: GSR vs GSR RS.

The RS engine was identical to the GSR, the major changes were in bodyshell and driveline. Less sound deadening, no rear wiper, povvo spec seats and trim and only basic a/c (non climate control). The driveline came standard with a viscous rear LSD (there have been rumours of a mechanical rear option), and NQBE non paper synchro gearbox as opposed to the street spec GSRs NRBE. The NRWE front LSD 'box was also usually optioned with the RS.

Later on in the post '94 facelift there was also the GSR RS-X, which had all of the driveline goodies, but the street spec interior.

Exactly what I was trying to say- didn't think there was any difference between a GSR and RS motor just differences in the shell/body of a GSR and an RS -Thanks for helping clear it up...

haven't been on for a long time...

but you'll find it hard to get good times in a fwd boosted buck... with my evo powered buck with semi slick i couldnt launch hard cos i'd lose traction.. only way to get it going for a good time and is an idle take off in 1st.. and full slicks..

best i got til i blew a hole in my piston was a 13.003.. i was heading for a high 12 on my final race

But your is looking good and youll get the times you want..

Ill be chuffed just to crack the 13 mark and that will be pushing it to its limits. It was probably the heat of the day that helped me getting off the line but i was launching between 4-5grand and with a bit of clutch riding and a very quick 1st to 2nd change i had full traction.. Next time will be with semis so hopefully ill get numbers im chasing :)

i see you running 14psi boost on standard rods. do you have any concerns about throwing them out the side of the block? common consensus is they get unreliable after 10psi

I have been told by a number of reliable people that 14 is my max with stock insides and the thought of running 16 at the track is very tempting but i dont want to destroy it either without having it tuned properly. It runs super smooth and thats what i wanted, i can quite easily keep up with and beat alot of street cars with power and the look of shock from them continues to make it worth it haha.. Not that im a hoon but im also not gonna back away from a challenge :)

i like the ss commodores, chirp off the line to tell them its on, and more often than not they too late to get on it and you can beat them to 100 or so. they wise up by the second lights tho.
cant wait to try the 2step to see there eyes go wide when they hear it.
will be even better with 1.6s 60' times with the awd
