.I disagree totally..He's asking others opinions so HE can make a decision...not asking us to make his decision?
According to your statement the thread should just be locked and everyone may as well not have bothered replying..??

Take a look at the sort of "advice" he's receiving in some of these posts - if he's looking for something to base a serious decision on then YES - this thread should be locked down and we should all go back to talking about engines, forged pistons and qtr mile times. This isn't a thread on "what colour should I paint my rims?" or "what turbo should I use?" - it's a bit bigger than that and we should all keep that in mind when we fire out our "opinions" to somebody we don't even know.

My opinion is different to yours and yours is probably going to clash with somebody else's because our circumstances, situation and life experiences are different.

With that said - in "MY OPINION" - jumping on the forum to ask this sort of stuff is avoiding having to face and make a hard call, which is one part of being an adult and living an adult life.

Sorry "347-dis" - I don't mean to come across as a hard ass, but this is something that you need to make the call on and I would hate for you to take a route you may later regret because "The guys on 4GT all thought it was the right thing to do". It's not something anybody on this forum should try to 'assist' you with. You know yourself, this girl and what your plans/feelings/circumstances are better than anybody here.

i know everyone has there own opinion and its what helps out as well

enginr no harm done mate its only advice on the situation

she isn't asking to give it up but im 22 i have had a full time job for 5 years of my life yet i have no savings for the future its all gone into the car, no she isn't asking to sell it but i get the vibe she wants me to, she hates the idea of having a passion like it, but as i said she was 5 days a week at uni and worked sat and sun, so she never had time to do anything so i half understand wheres shes coming from, she is a girl that can save no matter what even on 300 a fortnight she managed to save 2k where me im on decent money yet i am hopeless with saving money i can hardly save one cent.

but by the looks of most guys opinions
im gunna keep the car but finish it at a later date.
we also arnt 100% she will get a job next year out whoop whoop, we wont know till january

here is my opinion. you had the car before you started going out with this girl, she knew about the car when she started going out with you. she still decided to get into a relationship with you knowing that you come with a project car. there really is no question for you to answer the car is part of who you are, if she can't or doesn't want to accept that you have that passion then she ain't the right girl for you. the right girl will support you in your passion and your hobbies even if they have no interest in it themselves.

I have the same issue -

Been friends for 6years now dating for a over a year now. She already knows where the car and her stands and what I've been through with the car and money spent on her. I've told her the car comes first regardless. I've been through more emotionally stress with the car than her.

But now she helps me with the car (From conversions and minor/major modifications. She just help me put coilovers in yesterday) and it's something we can share together also gets her spending time with me too since I work 5 days/wk and she's uni student. I can't stay up late like she does and weekend well I work on the car/car forums. She also comes to cruises with me cause she like to see the outcome and progress of what she's help me with.

I dunno if its something your missus is willing to do but makes her see your point of view on cars, being in your shoes.

I can't complain.
My Mrs has never told me to sell or stop playing with the car.
Not directly anyway lol...

She has purchased for me over the years for my birthday:
Surge tank
Fuel pump
Fast and Furious DVDs

She's happy to help me bleed the brakes and clutch. Also feed me while I'm working on the car.

Car isn't going to worth much after you have paid the loan off, so is costing a stack of money. Is it worth selling now, clearing the loan and having fun with a much cheaper project? When I was young I pumped a lot of money into a car, sold it for peanuts, maybe look for something that has had someone else's hard earned already thrown at it.

yea i mean its just sitting out the back of my parents house doing nothing so its not costing anything till i wanna buy something for it, i guess it can stay like that till we find out weather we are moving or not, but the thing im also worried about is my debt when moving can they cause problems when you first move out or in general?

its really either we end up moving and i have to stop till we both get set up to where ever we move or we dont end up moving and i finish it next year, that's what it really comes down to

but the help and advice is well appreciated

thanks alot guys

Jamo, I totally agree. Bit it's still an option

Option H: cut it in half and use it for furniture

But as everyone else agrees on. Keep the car. Money alway comes along and a project is a project which takes time and can be put on hold. But you shouldn't give up a passion for anyone just for the convinience. It's a different story if there is a life threatening/changing circumstance (medical bills ect)

oi grant all you need to do is fit the motor and box. run it on a stock tune like my car. you can still drive the car and all you havta do later on is tune it and get all your piping sorted. just do it one bit at a time. or you could sell it. you have all the gear you need for it. cooler piping and dump is the last things you need.

I'd be more aware of speaking your mind with the best intentions and posting that up to have a negative rep. point put against it.
