Just wanted to double check if there was a gasket or not? i searched before and read some previous posts, but am still unsure?

Some gasket kits come with a thin paper-like adhesive gasket in them that you can use... but NEVER use cork. as they always harden up and blow out causing leaks.
IMO whether you use a thin gasket or not, it should still have a silicone bead around it to be safe.
Prior to reinstallation of the sump, ensure the sump flange is flat. Turn it upside down on a flat level surface and go around it with a mallet in case its bent.
Then clean both surfaces with metho before reinstallation with a quality hi-temp gasket sealer.
I found that some brands like Permatex dry quite hard and not very flexible when dry thus ends up blowing out and leaking oil.
I wont use anything other than 3Bond No.1 Grey RTV Silicone Super Sealer anymore. I use it on sumps and gearbox casings and it stretches out like a baloon when dry = great flexibility!!

when i pulled my gsr engine down, there was no sump gasket. however when i got gasket set there was one included. i installed it. as evooox said it was a thin paper one.
cant remember the sealant i used, but it probably a rtv type sealant. though it might have been loctite forma-gasket.

Toyota black sump sealant is an awesome sump sealant. Can buy it for the dealership.

cork works if you soak it in water first. But I just use straight sealant, what ever the flavour of the month is in the workshop or tool box.

+1 for three bond.
Did u try bursons? repco? i have got it from both of them in the past.
yes it has the red/brown one but it was on the shelf ready n waiting for me.
