Yeah i've had that happen to me before also. All i did was disconnect the negative on the battery for a min or so...connected back up and it's fine. Don't know what causes it, maybe somone can shed some light?

i don't know about the sound, but somtimes my abs light comes on.. i've been told its nothing serious, just the abs sensor getting blocked with dust or something along that..
not quite a gsr, not quite an evo

hrmm the actual unit thats making the noise (behind the passenger side headlights.
its like a rectangle box, with a sticker on it between the headlight and the p/s res.
just get a long screwdriver or something and tap the top of the box a few times until it stops.
let me know how it goes. if you can't find it, i'll take a shot of what it looks like if you want.
cheers
its actually quite common.

we had a magna in today at work with the same symptoms
ended up being a low voltage output to the ABS ECU signal from the
alternator. we had the alternator reco'ed and fixed the problem staright away

my abs light has stayed on for the whole time ive had the car. No noise from the abs unit though.
I'll probably just continue to ignore it.

hi guys first time on this forum i have the same problem with my gsr special when im boosting though backstreets and launching the abs light comes on (i hate it cause you can't pull up) i've brought it down to being the wiring from the battery to the abs if you play around with the wire with the fuse that comes of the positive of the battery it fixes it

Funily enough my 'ANTI LOCK' light came on just the other day also.
Maybe its the heat we've been having?? I checked my power steering fluid and it was fine.
I dont like ABS anyway, and I couldnt give 2 shits if it didnt work.
That light is annoying though, I might pull the bulb out a la b-style

mine used to have the same problem, the two main causes are:
1. sticky solonoied in the abs, to fix this just tap the abs unit with a screwdriver on the plastic part on back of unit located behind the passenger headlight.
2. after doing a big launch, or getting lots of wheelspin/ axle tramp the abs unit gets a series of signals at the wheel spinning/stopping and simply shuts down, fixing this usually involves just turning the ignition off for a few seconds and/or if that dosent work just disconnect the battery for a minute.
cheers dave

Going to bring this old thread bk to life as im banging my head aganst the wall trying to get my anti lock light to go out. I thought i should ask you guys b4 i go to the last resort or removing the glob to get ova pits.
So far I have removed all wheel sensors cleaned put bk in, tested and tryed different relays, checked fuses, checked power is getting to relays, replaced the whole abs unit behind passangers side head light, blead brakes, swaped over two ecu type boxes that said abs on that were under center console, dicnected battery for 1/2 hr and yet the anti lock light is still on.
What to do now? Im lost, any help would be muchly appreciated.
