Hey all.
Not sure what it's called, but the housing where the oil filter and oil switch attach to on my 97 RVR HSG is cracked, and leaking oil.
Does anyone know what this is called, and maybe where to source one?

Or can it be welded?

Is it the bit filter screws onto? Like a sandwich plate with two tubes coming off it? If so it's the oil cooler and you need to be careful. Ours split and those two pipes feed water to cool the oil, the split went between the two and meant water was in the oil system. That meant a fairly hefty clean up job and now the unit is bypassed. Cost is approx 850AUD from Mitsi.

Photo would help.

It could be the oil filter housing or like above, oil cooler (water to oil).

Sorry for the terrible description. Was in a bit of a panic :P
On another inspection, it's the exact outlet where the oil switch attaches that is cracked.

Excuse the silicone, but that's the part, right there next to the harmonic balancer.

UPDATE: Problem was solved. Had the cracked end welded shut, and removed a lug from another opening on the same oil galley. However, I did need to insert a threaded adaptor to be able to attach the oil switch.

Glad to her you got it sorted. Sorry I wasn't much help in the end, I was about to call up the Mitsi parts diagram for that area and confirm the actual part. If you want I can still do that.

For future reference, that part is called "oil filter housing". And it is a bit of a PITA to replace, because you have to remove timing belt cover to get to it. And at that point, it makes sense to replace your timing belt(s).

You are lucky to find someone to TIG weld it on the engine!

We actually took it off to get it welded.
Only had to remove the lower section of the timing belt cover.
And have just had the bottom end rebuilt so it seemed a pretty easy task compared to having to throw the engine back in, as we had been doing all weekend haha :)

Some people call it a oil filter housing part number MD317746 plus you will most likely to find on most front wheel drive 4G6's such as Nimbus Cordia and later galants with 4g6 motors and is quite expensive for what it is could try car dismantlers
