Hi there,
My names Matt and I own a 2001 Proton Persona Coupe Evolution with a 1.8 4G93 16v engine, I've bought a 4G92 1.6 16v Mivec engine and I'm planning on carrying out a hybrid conversion using the Mivec cylinder head. I have a friend who has done this and has gained very impressive results.
My plans are to build a fairly solid bottom end *forged internals* and add a set of 50mm ITB's I have acquired for the project.
Basically I'm on here for tips and useful knowledge on what internals people think I should go for. I would also love to go turbocharged in the distant future so whatever I buy I'm hoping for the utmost compatibly.
So this is a short list of what info I would like your opinions on...
What Forged rods to go for?
What Pistons aka the best compression ratio for high rpm ITB Turbo application?
What aftermarket management do people recommend?
Upgraded bearings and studs throughout are on the cards. I'm thinking full ARP but what application is compatible? Evo 4G63T?
I really hope to find the information I'm looking for
Thanks in advance.
Matt

I'm running Eagle rods and 8.7-1 cr wiseco pistons in a 4gG 63 585NM TQ ATW stroker turbo witH A 7200 rpm cut out.
When you say a high rpm (how high??????) na can
the syncros handle gear changes at the shift points?
Would recommend Haltec P1000 BUT you will need to go with whatever your tuner is familiar with.
There are plenty of forged and ally rods available over a wide price range so there will be a few in whatever price range you have in mind.
Use ARP studs top and bottom and ACL race series bearings.
As a general rule the higher the static CR is the less boost can be used but high static CR will make a turbo car more responsive off boost.

I would use the K1 technologies rods and wiseco pistons....off the shelf they are nine to one compression. BUT make sure you ask for an offset pin custom set because with out that they rattle like there is marbles in the sump!!
both of the above can be bought online at http://www.euroexpor...oducts_id=44501
head studs are arp studs for a toyota 3sgte....as arp dont do them for the 4g93
main studs if you need them are arp 4g63....fits right in with no mods
if those pistons dont have the CR you are chasing ...look at some of the Malaysian sites as the 93 is pretty popular over there

Thanks for the replies, Nice info to be had there that's for sure,I'm grateful for that link too,It's got my wallet shivering with fear haha
I hope I didn't come across as someone with engine know how,I've replaced many an engine but the internals I've never played with myself apart from a couple of engine strip downs...Never put one back together before! I relish the challenge though
I foresee a slight spanking of the credit card next month
