[rowlys_evo3]

changed my cams and my engine started making this noise
so changed my lifters to meek lifters and changed my oil to motul turbolight
still making this noise
any help would be muchly appreciated

dunno what noise you have got, but I imagine it's a top end tick or rattle.
Did cams spin over freely afterinstall before putting belt on?
I wonder if you have a big cam and getting coil bind on your valve springs or retainers hitting top of stems?

its got 272/272 camtech's with bc springs and retainers
tried to upload a movie but its not working bah
really sounds like noisy lifters

did you bleed the lifters before you put them in?

Run it without rocker cover on, and try to pinpoint the noise

thats another thing im worried about... the first lot of lifters i put in i didnt then i pulled them out and did
the second lot same thing
so another thing i was worried about was a bent valve but.... its got compression on all cylinders and is running

my guess...bent exhaust valves

could be lifters that havent got pressure yet...but can you do a leak down test? work it around till each piston reaches the fire position and pump the cylinder with air from a compressor.....listen for air escaping in inlet and exhaust.

could be lifetrs that haveny got pressure yet...but can you do a leak down test? work it around till each piston reaches the fire position and pump the cylinder with air from a compressor.....listen for air escaping in inlet and exhaust.

ive never done one of those... but i did a compression test... pretty consistant numbers...
ill give it a go though

nah kittens just arent as robust as a small cat.....so it is hard to duplicated the noise for a period long enough to be sure it is the same noise. BUT it could be worth a try try so bring round

the upside to using a kitten would be that it will be easier to get through the hole in the top of the can....


on a serious note....you can still get nice even compression results from slightly bent valves as it is a spike pressure you are measuring....not a constant.

but lets hope for bad lifter oiling first.
