I'm under the impression anti-lag is dumping a heap of fuel into the exhaust manifold at throttle close where it ignites post combustion and keeps the turbo spinning...... Down pipes not setup for this extra pressure go bang. Can't see how valves would cop the damage though. Turbos I can imagine though. That's on the factory fitted ones that arent active like on my 6. That's my understanding anyway.

valves are damages by the explosive force of combustion in an area where it can force the valve off it seat...rather than into its seat when combustion occurs in the cylinder head.

So it's back pressure while exhaust valve is open repressurizing the combustion chamber? Ouch!

valve open...meets piston. bad ending.

It's also the extra heat to deal with, the most effective ALS set ups have a lot of airflow, more ignition retard and less fuel, the byproduct being lots of extra heat that will damage valves, turbos etc. If your seeing lots of positive boost pressure off throttle the the setup is Probbaly to aggressive, aiming for 0-1psi is a good range and will give nearly zero turbo lag when you get back on throttle.
The best way to set it up is with a EGT and aiming for temps no higher than around 800deg C, temp is reduced by reducing airflow (ie throttle opening), reducing retard, increasing fuel and increasing ignition cut.
I aim to replace turbos each season, so around every 600-800km of competitive use. That's using a ViPEC ecu, with a solenoid that opens the throttle to 10% when the anti lag is armed. I'd have to check the map to give you an idea of the amount of retard, ignition cut etc I use.
If you want the it setup so that you can use antilag sometimes you will need some form of solenoid to open the throttle, otherwise you will need to use rotational idle, which is NOT practicle for daily use.

the haltech has rotational idle
I'm about to install my 4 piros in the EX manifold ECU logs the temps and I can put limiters etc. if temps get too high.
but i dont realy want to be replacing a $1500 turbo every 6months
what i've decided to do is I want it to pop a flame
I should be able to do this on decel with a shit load of fuel bit of a delay then and big hit of retard?? does that make sence ? or is that not the way to do it.
I dont want the BANG! to be too stupid - (not that the flamage isn't stupid)
