Hi All,
Can someone please tell me which model Magna has the same twin spot front brakes like the EVO I-III??
I am thinking to do the upgrade, but I am fairly sure I can get Magna Calipers and new disks for a very reasonable price compared to what hens teeth evo calipers would cost here in WA.
VR-4 items would also be an idea, and could probably get PBR OE replacements brand new from Repco, same with the Magna ones, whereas the EVO items wouldn't be listed.
These will be bolt on replacements right? unbolt GSR brakes, replace entire setup with twin spot items? Of course with bigger wheels.
Thanks
Mimmo

The GSRs Banjo bolt brakeline fittings will be different to that of the "threaded" style fittings on a Magna/VR-4. So you'll need to sort that. 276mm VR-4 Discs from Repco (Or even some slotted DBA ones ) will work perfectly.

Yeah I was going to get some new hoses made up anyway at a local brake place. I am sure they can fit a threaded fitting on the end instead.
Would VR-4 ones fit on the main lines up the top? that too looks like a threaded fitting. If thats the case I could just get some new ones as well.
Are we talking early model Magna here? like 1994 ish?
I have slotted DBAs on the GSR at the moment, and they are a lot better than the stock brakes, so slotted VR-4 brakes will be unbelievable

all twin spots are rare and pricey as hens teeth
done the swap and used the gsr lines and fitted vr4 twin pots and disks
you will only need to cut around 3mm off the banjo bolt and finish off the cut edge on grinder end of story.

Garbage. My fully rebuilt front calipers cost me 70 dollars each. Off a KR Verada with ABS. RDA slotted rotors etc. All info is in my members ride (which I think is on the last page)

hahhaha ent it was a joke anyways yes if you can find a KR with abs to get them off they will be cheaper than say evo or vr4 calipers.
good luck finding some.

Are Calipers ABS specific??
I was under the impression that the ABS side of things came off the hub/driveshaft assembly which sends a message back to the ABS unit, which then pulses the braking effort at each individual caliper??
There is a Mitsubishi recylcer here in WA that has a heap of Magna parts so I might pay them a visit later on in the week. I just want to compare the prices of used units + possible rebuild vs brand new PBR/DBA items.
Not much point putting on 300 000km old calipers that are siezed/badly worn.
My mate said his EVO brakes cost him $500 with new EBC Greenstuff, but with the old EVO disks just machined?
If Entaran got his for $70 a pop plus ~$140 each fo DBA slotted and ~$58 for a set of Bendix Advance (Ultimates will be more) will equal around $480....hmm not that much saving after all. I am going to suss it out more accurately and let everyone know.

i'm upgrading my brakes on my vr4
so i'll have a complete set up if you want
2 pot calipers with ebc redstuff pads (ova 1/2 worn pads)
slotted dba rotors
std rears with new pads

its the tr-ts magna or kr-ks verada with abs
that have the twin piston calipers
non abs have single piston, so they have to be off abs car

$55 each for the KR Verada calipers
Free sandblasting
$10 in black hi temp brake paint
$300 Ferodo DS2000 brake pads (front)
$270ish RDA Slotted rotors 276mm
My brakes weren't cheap. But they saved my car a couple of times.
Also, the ferodos when they grip will throw you through the windscreen if you're not careful. Also, they tear the fuck out of your rotors.
RDA rotors get better bite from pads but wear nearly twice as fast as a DBA rotor. Your choice. I choose to replace my rotors more often.

I swear your all talking shit.
If your talking city driving you car will always "put you through your window". You can only brake as hard as your tires will grip.
fair enough on the track wher eyou try brake hard every 5 seconds...
Brakes are a waste of time unless your doing track work...
Tell me i'm wrong...

evo runs 276mm rotor
which is the same size as magna (same rotor just 5 stud)
"$270ish RDA Slotted rotors 276mm"
i just bought 4 new slotted rda rotors for my evo for not
much more than that

Yeah, I might have quoted all 4 as the price.
I'd have to dig out the invoice. It was nearly 2 yrs ago.

How do the EVO 276mm brakes go at stopping you from like 230km/h?
I have GSR brakes at the moment, and they are shithouse at that sort of speed...
Thank you
Jason
