Benifits of using turbo oil feed line from filter housing

i know the theory of it being better cause your using cooler oil from the filter housing instead of oil thats been up through the head first and all.
but are there other benifits or draw backs?
are there any effects of blocking the oil feed from the head when running this?

Doesn't make that big a difference IMO.
ON THE ENGINE STAND. g4cs 2.4l + Gt35r. PLUS: auto conversion + Awd coming.

I use to use the turbo feed as my oil pressure sender point and it only saw about 5psi at idle and 1 bar at high load. Whereas the oil filter housing saw 15psi at idle and 85 psi at high load.
Mind you this was with a ported housing and no balance shafts. Still a good comparison between the two points

Td05 turbos fed from the head actually have a restrictor built into the feed line.
If you feed from the oil filter housing I'd make a larger drain for it.

anyway. the stock drain is pretty big? sure it would flow that much oil even under pressure to pressurize the turbo itself?
i just figured cooler cleaner oil cant be bad, and keeps a bit more up the top end also.

Garrett and pte journal bearing turbos are known to often blow seals when running too much oil pressure and/or too small drain. And fry if there not enough oil. Holsets need large drains as well.
So it needs to be checked at idle and full load when experimenting with different size restrictors.

Ive just installed a TD05 onto the Galant, and stupidly decided to use the banjo's and oil feed line that came with the kit which feeds from the head, i now have a small leak from the oil feed at the base of the turbo.
I was going to use the old feed off the old turbo (Precession) which is a braided line -4 from the OFH, what size restrictor is recomended if at all to prevent blowing the seals? or is there to many variables of pressure depending on balanced shaft installed/removed, mods ect ect.
From what im reading the guys in the states recommended to take the feed from the head if its a journal bearing and from the OFH for Ball bearings with appropriate restrictor.
Id like to take it from the housing as I have the line ready to go, if not Ill make up a new line and take it from the head to be on the safe side.
