When mine was brand new, it'd wouldn't start the car after about 7 days. The only load on the battery while the car was parked was the alarm. After about 2 years, it was only 3-4 days before it would need a jump start. You'll want to make sure your cold start is spot on too, even when it was brand new and fully charged, it would only crank the motor (~9.2:1 static cr) for maybe 10-12 seconds before it needed a boost. How is the PC680 battery going? How does it like starting when youve left the car parked up for a couple of weeks?
Once I went to E85, I bought an optima d34. Starting in winter on e85 with cold plugs was too much to ask of the little PC680, so I had to upgrade. The optima has subsequently shit itself (only holds charge for 2-3 days, even disconnected), so I'm on the lookout for something new - I think it'll be whatever sealed battery the local sparky has this time around.

Im thinking these 'deep cycle' batteries arent really meant to be used as a main battery for a car, but rather for sitting there providing power for extended periods of time with the engine off (like stereo competition, camping etc).
The small batteries are lightweight and will start the car, but as you find out they dont last that long parked up without requiring a recharge.
Is it too much to ask for a sealed battery that we can pop it in the battery box in the boot and not have it go dead on us in 2-3 weeks? I know with just a normal calcium battery it can sit for weeks and still crank the car over but if you are going to leave it for longer then hook up an automatic trickle charger to it so it doesnt go dead. Those new european VARTA brand batteries look the go too. So many to choose from.

Optima Red Top - High performance starting batteries for high performance applications.
The RedTop delivers superior starting power and provides greater resistance to vibration and extreme under bonnet operating temperatures.
The range is commonly used in high performance vehicles, utes, luxury cars, 4WD’s and other applications where a long lasting, high power starting battery is ideal.

As with bazeng, I have to kill switch it because the Tein adjuster unit is drawing 250mA with the ignition off. But it will sit for over a month and crank no problems.

I use this Full River dry cell in the race car
+2 on fullriver.
mate of mine has had the same hc75 fullriver batt for 3-4 years now an never had an issue. first it was in his daily/stereo comp car an now its in his turbo datto ute that only gets used once a week or so.
its the only brand battery i will use these days, getting good prices on them helps that choice

Unbelievable light!!!
