I use either:
Fuchs 5-30w Full Sythentic RRP $80 (5 litres, all the porsches use this)
or Shell 5-30w Full Sythentic RRP $60 (5 litres)
Filter to use would be the: Ryco Z411 $12
Plugs to use: NGK BP6ES
Where to get this stuff?
Autobarn or Repco or Supercheap
Evo motor holds around 4.3 litres of oil (inc oil cooler).

Fuchs Super Titan 10W40 is what I used with best results all year round, along with Proma MBL8 to shut the lifters up of course

THis post is on behalf of maccavr4.
He went out today and got motul 5W40 oil. he also got the oil filter that you guys recommened and he says it was way to small. (z411). His old one was a Z142A. Is there a reason why he has this filter? is it because its an evo engine? Are you sure about the spark plugs?

You can either use a Z411 or Z142a.. doesnt really matter. The 411 is smaller yes and most people who have a bigger dump pipe use the 411's.
In regards to the plugs people use different. I have no problems with running NGK BP6ES.

Ive been told that the factory oil filter on a mitsubishi is a Ryco item. All other oil filter brands are inferior to ryco!!! I know cos i had afew break on me!!!

Mobil Synth S - Synthetic oil that isn't ridiculously expensive ~$30/5L
Plus I don't agree that such a thin oil should be used on such old motors... 10W/40 would be the lowest I would go.. If you change your oil frequently ~5000kms then a cheaper oil is completely adequate.... Perhaps if you don't change your oil for 15,000kms or race your car every weekend then you can justify spending $100 an oil change... but apart from that its just silly.
