Hey guys, just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to get replacement parts for the 4-bolt rear mechanical lsd from a e38a vr4 rs (note: I haven't tried mitsubishi at all yet)?

How many friction plates and discs are they supposed to have on each side of the cam rings when pulled apart?
Also, do they have a spring between the last friction plate and the end casings?

Cheers,
Mike

Yeah I called meek and they're onto it.

When I pulled it apart I noticed that the plates didn't appear to be installed in the correct order, with 4 friction plates and 2 friction discs for each axle. The 2 friction disks were placed together with the friction plate between them, which may have caused the diff to act open, not ideal in an lsd, so I'm looking at putting them in a different order: end casing > plate > plate > disc > plate > disc > plate > diff centre.

^^^^Does that sound about right?

On the off chance, does anyone have the size for the cir-clip which goes on the end of the axles and locks them into the rear diff center on the 4-bolt?
Same as 3-bolt?

When I pulled the diff apart I found that both cir-clips were broken into several pieces and had been flying around in the diff with one large piece almost completely worn flat (i reckon this was causing the grinding noise I was hearing at low speeds).

Not sure of the size at the moment, but the 3 bolt spline that pushes into the carrier is smaller than the 4 bolter spline. I will check out mine and measure the spline/shaft diameter.

Thanks guys, all sorted now I think...seems to lock pretty well on dirt and chirps a little at low speed on gravelly bitumen
