I'd go to another engineer for his perspective on it.

I can see why the front and rear reo being modified might cause him some concern - they are part of the vehicles crash performance and if they've been modified, then the crash performance characteristics of the car have been changed.

The reason he's picked up on your seatbelts is because he's putting his name to the vehicle being OK for use on the roads. If the seatbelts look questionable and fail, then it's his ass on the line for OK'ing the car having them in there. Worst case scenario grab a clean looking set from a car at Pick-A-Part.

I agree with Mike re the AWD vs FWD gearbox setup. I'd just leave the AWD one in there and tell him you've changed it to FWD. He won't know any different.

But it's using a GSR Lancer AWD transmisson, that uses the GSR Lancer transmission mounts and GSR Lancer crossmember without modifications. They are all BOLT-ON replacements from the top of the range/ performance model CC Lancer GSR turbo sedan that was sold and complied in Australia between 1993-1996. (even if they are EVO, by comparison they are the same shit. In his eyes they should be equivalent to GSR Lancer items)
Technically, all the bolt-on mods from the GSR Lancer turbo should be the easiest thing to pass!! The Engineer HAS to approve those type of mod from the same family production vehicles, otherwise he's crap.
AWD. 2 Litre. GTX3076R 0.82.
330kw atw @ 28psi 98 pump fuel.

372kw atw @ 28psi E85 Flexfuel.

Thats what I pointed out to him... he just said ''well that doesn't happen here. I pass things when I'm happy with them''

I will get it engineered somewhere down the track... unfortunatly right now funds are gone, and I'm playing it safe and just changing a motor to get it on the road. Taking it to another VASS inspection is still a gamble. This way I get to drive it again, and sell my current daily driver which will fund a small overhaul on my CC Lancer anyway.
Unfortunatly, my taillights, while being Mitsubishi equipment, is DSM Mitsubishi... so no amber indicators and the seperate reverse lights. The RWC involved mounting amber indicators in my reverse lights so they flash orange and also serve as reverse lights. Perfectly clear and it was the mechanics recommendation to do it that way.
My number plate lights are now those LED running lights that people are putting on headlights, the mechanic doing the RWC inspection was impressed enough that he grabbed the other one from me to fit to his car in the same way!

I'm getting used to this response from workshops... I had a roadworthy center refuse to look at my car because of ''the dirty great hole in the roof''. He claimed my roof scoof was flimsy and dangerous. Not to mention the other mods to the bodywork. When I pointed out how it was fixed to the roof and didn't actually lead anywhere he tried ripping at it to prove his point, which just rocked the car and cut his finger on the edge of the fibreglass :P

I know that the car isn't to everyones tastes... its a ricer! But really, its not that dodgy... and I could have done things much worse. Hopefully it lasts longer between defects than last time it was on the road.

This is how it stands atm...

There it is... I just went and took a pic. I used the LED strip so you can't see anything hanging down... and it does a better job of lighting up the entire number plate.
