I just got the car of the trailer, found the mani to turbo gasket has parted company. This was a good mls seal, I'm really starting to think this cooling issue is more to do with the small turbo and tune and the resultant back pressure rather than the cooling system itself.

could have burnt out the gasket?

Yes you should be able to lift the cap on a 85º engine temp. I think it shows the system is working well for it to cool down quite quick. It seems you are just putting too much heat into it.
It might pay you to check that it is holding pressure. Put 14psi into it by pumping back through the overflow hose.It should keep a hard hose for hours. I think its a better test back through the overflow as it checks the cap to radiator seal as well. Mine iwas tricky to get to seal there as its a strange depth of cap and a bit of a divet in the seal stuffs them

Turbo is off. Seems in very good condition. Holding it in my hands and trying to work out what it all means. There was gas getting out of the area were the cold and hot side join as seen in the pictures, I guess this is more signs of way too much pressure build up. TDO6SL with a billet wheel seems like a good way forward.
You can get the haltec software here:

But the site wont let me load the files so it doesn't matter. If your that keen you can email/PM me and I'll send them to whoever wants a look.

Just reading some suff on strokers and rod ratio's this morning and when you get into the nitty gritty about the piston behavior in a stroker, the math says that the point of max tourque effiencey about 2.25* earlier than a standard stroke 4g63. Theoretically this means you can run your whole ingnition map 2* more advanced, all other things being the same. I didn't take that into account when building the timing map.
Having a better look at my logs, the compressor is falling over pretty much as soon as it hits boost. The wastegate at no point opens to control a rising boost situation, it in fact starts closing after about 5000rpm because the compressor has said 'fuck this shit' and just starts chopping the air, making the ECU think it needs to close the gate to increase boost. So basically after 5000 the exhaust restriction is being made worse by the ECU trying to do its job. By 6800 the wastegate is effectively shut, but no doubt just being forced open by the huge amounts of back pressure.
While researching turbo stuff, there seems to be very little info on turbine sizing. Does anyone know if there is a basic number figure than can be applied to the difference in flow between a td05 and td06 exhaust housings? I know there is more to it than that, but let's just say you have a td05 20g and a td06 20g on the same application, is there a rough percentage you could say that the 06 housing flows more gas than the 05 housing irrespective of what's happening on the cold side?

maybe you could try building the boost more slowly and have more timing down low?.
It would let the turbo breathe more until higher in the revs

yes back cutting the turbine allows it to let more air through before it becomes a restriction

I'm too much of a pussy to muck around with the timing too much without going on the dyno, but I plug the detcans into the terra phone system during recce and that lets me add timing progressively while keeping an ear on it.
Find out next Thursday. The last round is on and we will be going all out to break something.
