How much time do you spend in a parking lot with your performance car? If you do a lot of parking lot driving, and hang out in parking lots, chances are you are a ricer, go home and read import tuner. If you’re complaining about noise you should not be modifying your car. You should also consider no longer being a man, please hand in your genitals at the door.

what the fuktards who told u that info based on the symptoms youre describing dont know is that first and second gear has got nothing to do with the teeth on the front diff crownwheel. The diff crownwheel is driven by the output pinion. the output pinion gets driven by the centre diff which in turn is driven by 3rd gear intermediate. Plus if it was the front diff it would make the noise constantly no matter what gear it was in. If youre getting it under load when engaged in first and second gear chances are its something within the 1st/2nd hub slider unit, displaced or broken keys or springs maybe. Perhaps even a damaged alloy shift fork. In every other gear and neutral the fork isnt engaging the gears and the gears just spin without load on them. Intermediate or input shaft bearings would constantly make a noise too and not really gear specific unless a needle bearing inside the gear cog was collapsing under load when the gear is engaged. Otherwise front intermediate or input bearing could maybe cause the sound when 1st or 2nd is under load but ill be more inclined to think if youre getting bad sound now theyll always be making a sound regardless.
In other words it needs to be removed and repaired before you destroy your box or damage any more parts by having ground metal shavings go through everything else killing the rest of the bearings or damaging gear teeth.
is 1st n 2nd feeling sloppy to you when engaged? or harder to put into gear?

jamos right you know. some places that dont know shit about these boxes will say anything based on other gearboxes theyve worked on.

Sometimes very rarely when at the lights going from neutral to 1st it likes to stick a little bit.. I just clutch out, clutch in and it goes straight in no problems
I have to drive it to work and back which is only 15km away but other than that it doesnt get used
I appreciate all the help guys and with only 1 guy in town here who does gearbox rebuilds Im kinda screwed
** The noise is very noticable in 1st / 2nd but can be heard in 3rd and 4th** as I could hear it when driving past a guard rail**
Id love a tunnel to drive through

Then you only need to change the races at your end and put it back together
I haven't done it, but i reckon you can pull the clusters out with the box fitted...

btw when you push the clutch in...the noise goes away.. so when in neutral .. there is just smoothness..
What about when you are in the gears that make noise and the car is moving. If you press the clutch in does it go quiet?? If so would that mean your noise is clutch related??

Going by those other symptoms, it does sound more like a shit throw out bearing now.
Surely the mechanic would have recognised the sound of it when he heard it?
The other issue could still be a dodgey front input shaft bearing with excessive play. Its the shaft/splines that your clutch plate fits onto.
Either way, limit your driving around and get it sorted before you do the transmission some damage and make it more expensive to repair.
