Hi
So, i finally got around to putting the E3 engine into the Gti today. Anyway, the engine mount I'm using on the timing cover side appears to make the engine sit too high. I can't for the life of me remember which mount I'm using (if its the one supplied with the engine, or if it's from the 4g93 that was in it). Whatever the case, it looks too high....
So, can someone offer what is the mount I actually need to make it sit lower?
Thx in advance!

Have you already cut the hood brace that interferes with the timing belt /cover you also won't be able to run the cover without putting a bulge in the hood like rob mikey and Cody (rip)
yes it's me KHUBNER

no I haven't.....I wasn't sure if there was an engine mount that lowered it that I wasn't using.
If that's what I have to do, then out with the hammer I go!!
thx, khubner

There was a pic in the last few days showing a bonnet with a cut brace.
I think it was in for sale section. Maybe a gsr bonnet.

Here's what we did to Angelo's old coupe bonnet to fit the 4G63 in it. Simple case of removing one brace and tidying it up.
The bonnet now can close over the 4G63 timing cover with about less than 5mm clearance.
Engineers have no concern with doing this as its only removing one brace and does not severely impact the structural strength of the bonnet.
Proton front guards and bonnet sit slightly higher than Mitsu coupe guards and bonnet so you might just be able to get away with just the brace removal.
For my car, my brother's and Cody's we all made slight bonnet bulges above the timing cover just in case engine movement under load makes contact, which I think if you've got tired engine mounts it will happen. The bonnet bulge clears it no problem lus it looks cool The bonnet bulges were carefully heated and shaped out of the existing metal by experienced panel beaters, so no cutting holes and moulding a fibreglass bulge into place was required

Lets see it driving down the road if it is already done. Fark I must be getting old as I see this conversion as having as much value as drinking piss everynight and then throwing it up.

You must be getting old...as quite a few of your posts are, how would I say it.... quite negative. Although sometimes, quite amusing too.
