Hi, sorry if this is a repeated topic but I'm looking for some answers. Was there ever an ADM GSR that had a fixed back rear seat but no X frame?

We recently bought a 1993 CC GSR to fix up. Whilst going over the car (pulling interior out etc) we've found a few things that don't add up.

• The car doesn't have an Australian compliance plate, but instead a sticker and the vin number on the fire wall is pop-riveted on.
• Has cloth recaros and matching fixed back rear seats.
• No X frame, but when we tried to install a set of split fold rear seats from our purple gsr there were no mounting holes!?
• Different dash cluster (to 180kph)
• Has the mirror fold switch, but mirrors don't fold
• The rear parcel shelf has the hole for the rear windscreen wiper, but no wiper (heaps of broken glass was found under the carpet, which 'may' suggest it once had a rear windscreen with wiper but the rear windscreen was smashed so normal lancer one installed?)
• The two front door trims are dark grey, electric window switches, but have soft velour type fabric (mottle grey) inserts and speaker grills.
• Found Jap coins stuck in the sound deadening on the floor (some floating around loose).
• Aerial is on pillar.

From the beginning we just thought someone was enthusiastic about jspec gsrs and had collected these parts, but now after reading what's been said previously on this forum, we're unsure if we're dealing with a jspec or aus spec.

I would say you have a Jspec GSR, all the things you mentioned are in the Jap model.

picture of vine and sticker the riveted vin sounds dodge. but maybe an aus issued vin after import. also finding yen in the sound deadener would suggest jap import

Thanks guys, one thing I forgot to mention was that it doesn't have the digital climate control. Has the same aircon facia as the aus specs.

And yeah, I thought the sticker was heaps dodgy too, but its one that's been issued from motor reg SA in place of a 'missing' one. Car has had a full respray so suspect maybe that's why

Could be a CD5A RS or RS-X

The RS was just like a Japspec GSR but no power options, if the front doors have velour fabric then I assume someone has tried to throw power windows into it

The RS-X was inbetween the RS and the GSR

If you PM me the VIN number I can suss it out on ASA or something

The small riveted plate is normal on imports, we a lot of the skyrines I see have a thin plate with the vin riveted in the bay

So just an update. Today my partner took off the vin number placard that was placed over the top of where the chassis number should be. He's discovered that the chassis number has been scratched out (for some reason). Looks like it's CD5A0003944

•Has cloth recaros and matching fixed back rear seats PRETTY SURE ALL JAPSPECS HAD FIXED REAR SEATS

•No X frame, but when we tried to install a set of split fold rear seats from our purple gsr there were no mounting holes!? ONLY EVO HAD THE V FRAME, MOUNTING HOLES SHOULD STILL BE THERE, BUT YOU WILL NEED TO BOLT IN THE 2 BRACKETS FOR THE FOLD DOWN CLIP

•Different dash cluster (to 180kph) JAPSPECS GO TO 180KLM/H

•Has the mirror fold switch, but mirrors don't fold THE REPLAY MAY BE BLOWN, ITS UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE DASH BOLTED TO THE FIREWALL

•The rear parcel shelf has the hole for the rear windscreen wiper, but no wiper (heaps of broken glass was found under the carpet, which 'may' suggest it once had a rear windscreen with wiper but the rear windscreen was smashed so normal lancer one installed?) JAPSPEC HAS REAR WIPER, GLASS MUST HAVE BEEN CHANGED

•The two front door trims are dark grey, electric window switches, but have soft velour type fabric (mottle grey) inserts and speaker grills DOORS MAY HAVE BEEN CHANGED IN THE PAST WITH EVO TRIMS, GREY SWITCHED COULD BE FROM A PROTON WIRA/PERSONA

•Found Jap coins stuck in the sound deadening on the floor (some floating around loose) KONNICHIWA

•Aerial is on pillar. PILLAR?? AS IN A PILLAR OR BESIDE THE BOOT ON REAR QUATER??

If aerial is on a-pillar would this mean it's a j-spec gsr Rs??

Some have it on the A pillar and some have it near the boot or something I think

There is no gsr rs. Thats like saying lancer glxi gsr

I have a funny feeling that my RS had gsr badges on it as well. Both my gsr and rs had A pillar aerials too.

^ yup me too. Rs badge is on the right hand side under the tail light from memory

So you may find if it may have the Rs running gear

In regard to the interior trim. I don't know if Mitsi in Japan offered customers fit out options but Subaru offered various options like air-con, power windows etc on the v4 sti-Ra I
Had. So maybe that explains the recaros, basic aircon etc. just an idea

EPC only list an "RS" decal, but no "GSR" decal for the CD5A SNDF RS(MPI/4WD/TURBO),5FM/T
