Hey Guys,

I'd thought I'd do a rewrite on my build thread on the jummy as my last one doesn't explan much and I was working on two cars at once..

This Beast started life as a 1.5L FWD Weapon.. haha

Few week into owning it I started to modify her, upgraded the front brakes to Evo spec, put in lowering springs and rear leafs.

I then got board of the 1.5L and decided to put in a 4g93P donk, rewired the engine bay loom and swapped out the dash loom and engine loom. Then put on an evo 3 front end. Just didn't have the bonnet at that time

Looked like this,

new_front.JPG

here is a vid of first start up with the 93P 9no zorst either)

th_MOV00009.jpg

Not long after I had painted it all it decided it would die. Could For the life me work out why, so I thought stuff it rip it all out..

This is where it started to get interesting,

After giving up on my CC coupe (the cursed one) I put everything into the Jumbuck. Everything from an Evo 3 cut was put into it. I had to make a patch loom for the tail lights that took me a weekend to make up

I don't think I need to put pictures up, everyone know what the inside of an Evo looks like.

At this point in time it was still going to be FWD, didn't really have any plans to AWD it,

Shortly after getting it running I upgraded the standard 1.5 pump to a walbro 255lph pump and replaced my coils as they died.

After that I got into a small bingle, nothing serious, but it did hurt my wallet. I had to replace the rad, headlights, cooler and piping, got away with reshaping the reo on the evo 3 bar..

It was now time to hit the drags up..

Got myself a set of semi slicks, then hit up strip. First time out people where looking at me and wondering why im swapping over to semi, they then foud out later that night why..

First night there, best run was a 13.5sec on a stock clutch too

Here are some vid's there are a lot more up there

one is my first run... not so good but has a good burnout

this is my last run which was the 13.532... but I broke out

But the bug had hit, I was down at the motoplex as offen as I could get down there..

This is where plans changed and I was going to convert to AWD, so I would have traction when I needed it,

My best run ever in FWD was a 13.003, I was trying to crack the 12's but the worst thing happened at the time I thought it was just the head gasket, but once I pull it off I found the real problem, I had blown a decent hole into one of the pistons.

So it was time to rebuild,

wiseco forged pistons 8.3:1, 20thou oversized
eagle h beam rods
brian crower valve springs and titanium retainers
brian crower 280/280 cams
acl race bearing (big end and rod)
ARP head and main studs
removed the balance shafts
clean the ports in the head

So I got it running again and started to drive it to my Ex's house half way there the motor stopped, could work out why then I seen oil coming out from under the car, so got it towed back to the shed and once again pulled the head off, and found the problem, the oil pulley nut had come off, melted thro the cover and the timing belt had jumped some teeth, I bent all 16 valves and snap a bolt on the exhaust cam, no idea how that happened.

So this time over sized valves where put in and everything was rebuilt and tested again, and it ran sweet.

Next issue that arose was that fact that some how my rego payment bounced while I was working away, no idea how or what had happened I got home to a letter saying head in the plate. So devo!!

So now it was unlicensed, I filled out the paper work need to get this thing relic'd and engineered all approved I decided I'd AWD it at this time too,

Finally got my hands on a libero gt rear diff, had it sent off to get the gearing changed to 3.909 instead of the 3.545 as I was running the evo box

I had all the mounts cut off and new ones welded on

Also putted up some evo 6 front seats for a good price, and where prefect because they matched my colour scheme

So I started on the AWD'n part of this, started swapping out the tanks, had to cut one mount off to fit in the AWD tank in there, then ordered some coilovers from the states. Once the diff was mounted up go my measurements for the tail shaft and sent it off to VEEM in WA to have it modified,

Pixs of the diff with the coils
coilovers_in.JPG

And Shaft
tailshaft-new5.JPG
and I had a 100mm slip yoke put in aswell
tailshaft-new7.JPG

Once that was sorted I started working on my gauge holders

custom_holders_in_car1.JPG
Dash_parts_done.JPG
centre_dash_done.JPG
right_dash_part.JPG

I then started working on my customs rear bar. This is how it turned out after putting in hours of work, but it still needs work to this day..

rear_bar_4.JPG

This is it today as it sits, still needs work and the list get bigger each day

test_fit_bumper.JPG

Plans atm are,

Finish my motor off (needed to be stripped again, had a strange noise)
5 stud convo, with brembos
swap the rear leafs to lowering leafs
change FMIC
new oil cooler
will be putting in a fuel cell of some sort
hard lid
new carpet
and this list goes on but there the main things

I happened to get a look at another 63t jumbuck the other week.
Like yours it is awesome

And I saw a mivec powered one advertised recently it was a tyre shop run about.

I love your rear bar too.

Cant wait to run at the drags side by side. Woo hoo

Jack, yeah I've seen that one too.. Pity about the graphics but would go hard. Where did you see this buck?

And yes it will be interesting with both of us on the strip, me a 2l and yours with a 2.4l lol

And Shane, they look good in my setup too lol! It's a pity the pixs of them are blurry

And I forgot to mention, I'd had a gas test done, engineer is happy with the car so I just need to get the brake test done then off to get its final inspection. It's close now, I can feel that piece of paper it's that close haha

That's a buck from up my way, no graphics just black and gold with a evo bar. Stay tuned, I'm waiting for the nod from the owner to put it on the market for him.

Thanks for putting in the time to show us what you've been doing.

Nice one FTR the Libero GT (CD5W) fuel tank mounts behind the rear diff and the rear bumper and has a nice lowered section where the fuel pump sits inside the internal swirl pot, good to see a Lib diff going on a ride, love them and virtually unbreakable :) Enjoy

Just my 2 cents worth take it or leave it: Just noticed no Pan hard Rod, might be a good idea putting on in for stability reasons

I was planning a watts link for mine but a panhard is fine.
But the leaf springs are still there and factory has no panhard bar. The leaf springs are stiff as side to side. As they are tapered and there is no rear shackle there is sfa movement.

I've been looking into putting a cell into the tray, but I'm going to see how it all works out once I lower it..

But do you know if an Evo 3 rear LSD will fit into the libero diff? Being 3.909 atm I can just swap out the centres easlily

In regards to the pan hard, much like jack said being leaf still I didn't think I'd need it but with the added coilovers that are at a 15-20* deg angle I thought that would ask some strength too the back end if there is any movement

When you are on the rear bump stops, how much clearance do you have between tank and tailshaft or diff housing.
I am concerned about this and may have to lift tank up a inch or so. Even maybe just at the rear.

Nice work there  .. keep it up.

In reference to the diff to tank and under body clearances ... mine has the standard height leafs as far as I know and for shocks I found out they are aftermarket monroe gas from a volvo s/wagon (shorter stroke/reach) the rear wheel come off the ground when turning off the road on to a steep driveway on a angle lol, the bump stops have be almost elimated ... as for the new welded mounts on my Libero diff they are like intergrated lowering blocks spacing it up to get the lower body stance.... the diff yoke and the tailshaft get very close to the tunnel of the tank if the back tub is loaded up with a decent weight... also the top horizontal chassis rail above the diff centre housing gets quite close ....although it has been already belted up a decent amount... a scuptured/ recessed rail would be a good idea.. I think the biggest issue is the exhaust if you are planning to lower it.... having a fixed rear axle its meant to run over the top of the diff... mine sits under it for this reason.... which is not to regulation.... but theres no other choice the way I see it. On the topic of handing and suspension / body sway . its very tight considering it doesnt have a panhard rod or sway bar at all.

Cheers for the comments guys..

But Yeah ive got a few ideas about how to run the exhaust over the top of the diff without effecting the flow tooo much, im hoping to get away with 4-5 90* bends all up.

But with the coilovers I wont have an issue with it hitting as its pretty hard atm, and there set half way, I just hope it doesn't hit the tank otherwise that's the first thing coming out..

The one I saw had the tank behind the axle. But there is a heap of room to lift the tank up higher. I can get my whole arm up there between tank and tray.
I was going to relocate my bump stops up higher. Probably to the inboard side of the chassis rails and try to keep the bumpstops uncut. I was thinking I could notch the rails above the axle tubes but from what is said they will be fine.
I will look at that rail above the housing closely.
I was thinking of a swaybar for the back but if the rear wheel lifts that is probably way stiff enough. Lol

Regards to exhaust. I want a 3.5" system. But I need to change to twin 3" for the varex muffler. So maybe I can notch the undertray supports and run some oval 3" twin pipe over the top...

Getting excited for you ben. Its been a long slog for you, but the light is getting close now...
