Hi all,
Need help with change over in Brisbane.
Q1 do I need 3 port solenoid for 18 to ,20 psi (stock internals) ?
Q2 knock sensor ?
Q3 pinout (could be stupid) but can only find EVO 8. Yes need help here. ?
Q4 can come to you or come to me and will pay .(cold start)
Basically stock motor with bolt ons, fuel pump,560 injectors, 3 inch turbo out, put stock fpr back on and manual boost controler.

q1 it's advisable (better cotrol)
q2 they come stock with one so the ecu should be able to read that
q3
evo 6

evo 3/gsr
]http://122.148.77.132/4gt-manuals/Wiring%20Info%20-%20Misc/EVO%20I-III%20ECU%20COLOUR%20PINOUTS.pdf
q4 being a stock ecu provided you have all the e6 supporting stuff attached should be plug and play (once you have patch loom done)
should start and run fine

Thanks for reply
Q1 , understand
Q2 , sweet
Q3. Got that, was under impression tha it just a pull out and swope some of the harness side pins. Similar to putting evo8 ecu into EVO 4 to 7.
Q4. I thought they had different arm, EVO 1 - EVO 6
Thanks darryl

I pretty sure the e1-3 knock sensor is not compatible with the later ecu. May need a later knock sensor.
Certainly check what ones had the same part number.

are the jdm adm usdm all wired the same?
Will all bin files and tephra work on all ecu or are you limited to just your own bin?

not sure what you mean by ARM. the biggest differences between the later evo's and older ones is the extra emissions control devices. apart from that and the obvious switch in orientation they should run essentially the same. provided you match the pin outs correctly and supply any sensors you don't have and may need to the ecu all should be fine.

note that if you don't have a second o2 sensor after the cat and don't spoof a signal you may always have a CEL

if that what he was refering to thats covvered under (all evo 6 supporting mods injector sensors etc) same as you would do if going to run evo ecu on a 1.8l gsr. you switch afm injectors and ecu all at once

bin file is the file they use to change the tune inside the ecu.

i'm preety sure the knock sensor is only an switch type sensor that triggers under an instance of know ie it's on or off.

maybe comment if youve actually done this mod. if you want advice on this mate ask jayrome. check out his build thread.ive researched this mod and all the advice
ive had has just contradicted previous advice ive had.just a debate at your expense! im going to buy an eprom ecu and go for a ecm link. if you want ecu tuning advice
try na autosport they do alot of 4g63 stuff and may be able to point you in the right direction.

ecm link is a good way to go and with a good tune can be quite fuel efficient

True dat.

Ive only been really researching the e8 ecu and still lots of grey areas for me. Ifaik you can run any afm as you can calibrate the afm anyway.
Maybe im thinking you are going to evoflash it but K is talking about it staying as the stock bin

A meek chip is the cheapest if you are not going to do any more mods.
If you are planning more mods later then maybe ecmlink is worth checking out.
A late evo ecu I consider to be a cheap option if you can tune and wire it yourself. It is the most labour intensive.

Q1 do I need 3 port solenoid for 18 to ,20 psi (stock internals) ? Do you want to use the stock boost control, or after market? Imo aftermarket is easier
Q2 knock sensor ? It works fine.As long as its not a vr4 one.
Q4 can come to you or come to me and will pay .(cold start) Stock maps won't be an issue with cold start
Depending on what you're planning on long term, a meek job could be the easiest option, loom stays undamaged, its a plug and play stock solution. The E6 ecu has great tunability, if you know who to go to. Plus gives you a far greater scope for long term modification. The hardest thing from memory when I did the conversion to an E7 ecu was the wiring for the fans, a/c etc.
The main thing to add to the list is the air flow meter form the evo 6, and the piping to support it.

I'm running an Evo 6 ecu with all the standard evo3 sensors. Was plug and play but tuner had to swap 2 of the wires around I think
