Hi All,

I'm really sitting down and sorting the M21 out now but i'm starting to think of what path im going to go down with it as far as driveability goes....It's either i work my ass off to get it street regoed and engineered (so i can still enjoy it whenever i like)
OR.......completely forget the street driving side of things and make it a dedicated drag car and buy a tow car lol

....HELP!!!

Street style.
You can never drive it enough unregistered to make it good value. Imo
But it will be hard work. The laws seem lighter if you have a ute compared to a passenger car

VSB 14 is good there's alot of stuff that's fairly simple to get through I'm not 100% familiar with your car or what state your in but for anywhere other than qld your biggest hurdle is going to be emissions. Nothing a pair of euro 4 cats won't fix

Best thing I did was let the rego on the Coupe expire and stop driving it on the road. I could never really enjoy driving it with the worry about not just being pulled over, but having some idiot smash into it. One of my lease cars got smashed into from behind by a truck when I was driving to work, if it had of been the Coupe, I'd have been gutted as it would have been a write off.

Making it track only also means you don't have to compromise on performance modifications due to road/legal requirements.

I'd say get a tow car and go nuts on the m21 and enjoy the mods at its full potential at the drags. If you're on the streets, you're always gunna worry about the defects, speeding fines and that sneaky cop around the corner!

Depends if you are going to keep the M21 FWD or if you intend to go AWD.
Then it depends what sort of drag racing you want to do? FWD or AWD?

once ya get that pass, where to for the car then? circuit or sprints? if not, are ya just gunna go every month to the drags an run an 11?

my votes for street, im not gunna pretend im mr perfect driver and dont speed, or have fun in my car, cos i do! i just make sure its abit more calculated or thought out than the general p plater, chance of pedestrians/ other cars, animals, cops an traffic,

as for getting defected, if ya get pulled for driving like a dik then hey, hope ya had fun, otherwise why would they want too?? its a m21 with wheels, you'll be all good bro

Rego fwd and 11 should be achievable without taking it off the road.

Did you get forged rods in the 93? Surely you need them at least to get 11s

You don't need to be driving like a d!ck to get defected, i'm sure VIC also has random vehicle inspections..?
Here in ACT its rampid, stay indoors I say or drive a stock Hyundai i30 around...!

Your car could be parked at maccas, then as you head out after having your big mac some f@g RTA f^&kwit leaves a notice on your car telling you your windows are too dark, or too low, tyre load rating is wrong etc...!

My daily is a bagged magna wagon, and fark i cop the sh!t everywhere i go and i don't even drive around like a low rider or like a peanut. Its engineered and I ride on standard height, but park low and that's when the sh!t happens!!!

been done twice in last 4 weeks, anymore and i'm taking the sh!t to ombudsman.
apologies for the rant..

haha, cos "bagged doesnt attract attention... it might be engineered but they cant distinguish between a certified lowered vehicle to a cut spring job, there cops, if it looks low, or too dark, etc there gunna get ya or try,

and of course theres random inspections, who cares, thats just bad luck,

as you said when they see somthing amiss, then they'll check it out, dude i drove with no exhaust for over 2 years, no hassles at all, even got pulled by that show highway patrol by the dyk lady thats supposedly a bitch,

Have any of you been to wodonga? the cops here are jerks but can be reasonable if i stay under the radar they tend to leave you alone. I want to be able to get in it and drive to work if i need to aswell.

Nah man being an oddball and going the CA rod/GZE piston combo i have two sets of CA rods and a mate works at toyota so cheaper GZE pistons so.....
fingers crossed :)

It needs flames for sure.

With the m21, I wonder how big a front tyre you will need for mid 11?
You will still want a 1.7 60ft I think and that will certainly need some race day tyres for that with fwd.

Does that sound right? A 1.7?

Keep the M21 street rego'd. Get it tuned on E85 and when running down the quarter, bolt on some flared front guards and wide front tyres with slicks and do a good time.
Drive it home, put the normal guards and wheels back on and enjoy :)
