The tester is like the little prick thing that diabetics use to prick their finger to get a bit of blood.

Gives an instant read out and is used at various points accord the face of the head

The hardness test I've seen is a tube with a base that sits on the head, and a ball bearing (for lack of a better description) drops and they measure the rebound or bounce of the ball. The machinist I use is old school and is like, it's so simple but is often missed. Cos I thought my head was soft cos I did 2 cometics in a short period of time. Switched to Permaseal and no dramas.

Can the head change hardness over time or was it always soft?

I beleive it is due to overheating, I am told the evo's are particularily prone to it tho

last outing at QR, temps were creeping up again so had to park it, have since resolved that issue, anyway my last lap of the day as the mrs forgot how to turn on the gopro....

best time for the day was 57.03 on the sprint track, next outing march 15, a 56 is the goal with 55s in my sights :)

What was the issue with temps creeping up caused by? And how did you resolve it ?

I think the thermostat that was in it was suspect, I got a new OEM one, and I also made some ducting to help guide air to the rad more efficiently, end result being normal driving temps are ~10deg lower and on a thrash test it didn't go over 83 deg, but in saying that is impossible to replicate track conditions on the street but before I changed the head and gasket I did a similar test and it boiled over so fingers crossed all is now good

Looks good!

Only thing is oil pressure seems high. Still stock housing and oil stat?

Cold start oil pressure is going to be high depending on the oil Baz - you know that! lol.

I was looking more at the AFR's at idle between 11-12 being rich.

But again, a better indication would be to see what oil pressure and AFR's show at normal operating temps.
