Sump plug spinning

What happened is, doing an oil change and put the sump bolt back in tightened it up,went tight then started to spin. It doesn't feel stripped feels more like the threaded part on the sump has come loose and is spinning.
Anyone had this happen or can shed some light on how the bolt hole thread is secured.
Thanks Phil.

Ive had this happen before when servicing other people's car...they had over tightened it and broken the spot welds of the tabs inside.
here is a picture of the inside.
best to remove sump and use a mig to re-attach with small welds.....but if you want to repair on car....see below
if you are lucky you will be able to see the three spot welds from the outside right near the sump plug. get some small guage stainless blind{sealed} rivets....drill a hole in the spot where the old spot weld was that is now broken off. use a very slow ....extremely slow....slow.... yes slow! drill speed as you want the swarf on the outside to fall away not get carried through into the sump. If you engage two pieces of metal....good...install rivet. If not...turn sump plug till you see metal cover the hole. drill through and install rivet.
