Reading the exedy bashing on the forum is making my near purchase of the hd exedy questionable...
Mind you its a stocker 4g63 with td0518g and misc mods (full zaust, intake, fmic , chipped ecu).
Any suggestions on what other clutches are available for under $500 ?
Keep in mind its a daily
Thanks in advance

For that price, you are likely best off with a Competition Clutch Stage 3 segmented Ceramic disk clutch kit. Part number is: 5048-2600
It would be a 2700# pressure plate and sprung hub segmented Ceramic friction material full face disk with alignment tool and TOB.
I can ship it over, otherwise I can give you an authorized Australia dealer for Competition Clutch.

I gave you a choice that was cost effective and will handle your power levels. I do not recommend used clutches unless you are purchasing a perfect condition clutch and flywheel assembly, and even then, I still do not prefer to run it.
I gave you the best choice for a NEW clutch at a great price.
Normally I would have recommended one from a different manufacturer to do the duties in your vehicle.
If you want a used clutch, go for it; but I am not giving recommendations on Dave's used clutch because it is used and I have no ability to verify the condition of his clutch. Seriously, its a clutch; think of it as a set of brake pads. Are you going to purchase some second hand brake pads to save a bit of cash and put it on your car?
If you are going to purchase Dave's used OS Giken, please be ready to expect rebuild parts cost in the very near future which will include the disk pack and floater plate along with a flywheel resurface at a minimum. Though $550 is a good price on an OS Giken twin, it is still a used clutch with no verified measurements of thickness, warpage values, or wear patterns.

BZY, listen to Twicks man.
It looks similar in design to an Exedy HD brass button clutch MBK-6429HDCB which is a popular choice amongst your average 4G93T/4G63T driver on the street with under 250kw atw, but the Competition clutch has 6 rivets in the clutch centre, whereas the Exedy only has 4. The CC item would also be made of better friction materials and would be the choice of the two.
1992-1994; 5048-2600; 2.0L Evo 1; PERFORMANCE CLUTCH KIT - SCC Stage 3; Segmented Ceramic; 4 Cyl; 4G63T; $435.00
This segmented Ceramic material with a performance pressure plate will provide the ultimate in street and strip combinations. This assembly is suited for up to 150% increase in torque capacity. Provides quick but smooth engagement and extended life.
The 2600 Series kit includes a performance pressure plate, a high torque sprung disc with segmented Ceramic facings, all applicable bearings, and the appropriate alignment tool.

Just be wary of the TOB design that come with some clutch kits you buy these days.
If you look at the pics of the 3 x different types, the one on the left came with a clutch I purchased so I put it in questioning its construction and seal.
Well, it didn't take long before it started making noises and when I changed my gearbox over to a rebuilt one, the condition of the TOB was appalling.
It had about 5k use and one day at the strip going hard. It deformed and wouldnt have taken long before it collapsed. The bearings were not sealed anymore and all godly elements were able to penetrate its casing. It was a very poor design.
After sizing it up, I went with a new revised OEM TOB

It looks like VisionR might not have the specific one I mentioned in stock, you should contact them first. If they cannot get it, I can ship one over to Australia for you.

I normally recommend all of my customers to spring the additional $30 for the OEM TOB as it is a known good piece. I only use and sell the MD749998 bearing. The Competition Clutch and SBC clutch kits use a Nachi bearing if I am not mistaken, and I haven't seen any of my customers have issues with them over the last 5 years. Still, OEM is best for the TOB.
