Hello guys,

Well since the 4g63 went in i have not being able to drive car under boost as the stock new clutch didnt like the idea of 17psi.... apparently few of these clutches have issues.

So bought Racing clutches clutch from the states and about to put it in.

From what i understand needs to be done:

- Un-do xcase.

- Un-do support crossframe.

- Undo gearbox engine mount and rollers.

- Remove gearbox from under the car...

However since engine is left to pivot on one engine mount... what do you use to hold it up from dropping ?

Cheers :)

Scissor jack and block of wood under sump.
Or better if you hook up engine crane to engine.

Lucky i still have the engine crane at home then aye :)

This doable at home without external support ? Anyone changed one by them selves ? (How long did it take)

You better off putting crane in from the side so leg doesnt interfere with trolley jack

If it was me...pull out the engine and box together. It will take a little longer but it is in my opinion easier than struggling under the car trying to wiggle 60kg of box out and then back in.

if however you want to take the pain.

drain gearbox oil

car on stands

remove front wheels

dont have too...but I find it easier to remove battery and tray

undo outer cvs

drop the front part of the exhaust from dump to cat to allow room for next step

remove transfer case and slide off tailshaft

undo hubs and release cvs by swearing and drinking beer while pushing hub to side. sometimes it is easier to drop the steering off the hub

remove drivers side cv shaft from box....more beer will help to ease pain of wacking fingers while shoving a wedge in to prise out the shaft

undo bolts that hold the drivers side jack shaft to the block and slide shaft from box

remove intake piping

remove airbox

detach selector cables

support engine with a something like this  https://www.malz.com...oducts/DPTW4201 i use that and it works ok

undo the north south cross member amd the mounts from roll stopers

remove the two bolts that hold the slave cylinder and then the two that secure the metal slave line to the gearbox and move the lot out the way....this saves bleeding it later

revoe starter

undo all the bolts that secure box to engine....the box is now loose and will come out ...eventually...when you get the right angle sorted

goodluck...it isnt a job i like

Dont forget the backwards bolt below starter that stops you breaking bellhousings.

It shouldn't take you to long to do and I strongly suggest you invest in getting one of those engine supports I used one when I took the box out of my old gsr it helps so much and you don't have a massive engine hoist in your way. also containers for your bolts so you don't lose anything important

Nothing like a engine crane leg to lie on. Generally right on middle of your back

i found using a jack under the engine  and bolting a bracket too the gearbox and connecting the block and tackle to that its easy

i also  remove the rear engine mount bracket off of the gearbox  soo that the gearbox  doesnt foul on the subframe

I usually support the engine by strapping the inlet manifold to the strut brace (if you have a decent one). You'll need to remove the N/S crossmember before the transfercase from memory.
